Online Photography ExhibitionWhat is your view from where you are in the middle of a global pandemic? What do you see every day as you “shel-ter-in-place?” The Martin de Porres Center Arts Committee invites you to submit photographs of your current view to be included in our virtual exhibition, “The View from Here” - Global Pandemic 2020. We want to share these photos with others on our Facebook and Instagram page to find inspiration from each other.Submit your family-friendly photographs (limit 2 photos per person) by May 6, 2020. The online exhibition will run from May 6-May 30. A selection of photographs will be chosen for a physical exhibit to be shown at the Center later this year. The Domestic Church Like Never BeforeThe family is often referred to as the "domestic church" as it is typically the place where children first learn about love and faith. This is always the case, yet it is even more obvious right now, when Church buildings are closed. So how can we continue to stay connected to the universal Church and live liturgically during such trying times? Here are some ideas:• Participate in Mass remotely: Join Blessed Sacrament
on Facebook live or on our blsac.net webpage. Make this time special for you and your family with these tips, and don't forget about the opportunity to make a spiritual communion.
• Take advantage of free resources: For example, the Magnificatis offering free access to their online materials, including Magnifikid. Give Us This Day is offering this as well.
• Pray, Pray, Pray: We are blessed with so many ways to pray - both alone and with others. Contact your local parish to see what they offer. Also, Damascus Catholic Mission Campus is offering prayer, worship, and activities through their Facebook page, you can pray along as you listen to St. Gabriel Catholic Radio, pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet (check out Vatican Grants Emergency Plenary Indulgence for Divine Mercy Chaplet,) and you can even add your prayer to a map!
• Reach out in love: Check out these opportunities to provide help and hope to our neighbors in need, especially the most vulnerable, the poor and the elderly.
"Let’s be strong in our prayer for one another, especially for the sick, their caregivers, those in the medical professions and those entrusted with the charge of care for public health." -Bishop Brennan
“Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road, while He opened to us the scriptures?”
Luke 24:32How often do we take the time to discern what Jesus wants from us? Are our prayers always petitions, asking Jesus to do things for us? If so, that’s a one-sided relationship. Liv-ing our faith means developing a personal relationship with Jesus. Just like any friendship, there is give and take, each side listening to each other and helping each other out. Take time in silence to listen to what Jesus is asking of you.Learn how you can show your gratitude and love by sup-porting your parish and contact The Catholic Foundation.
