description

PV is renewable energy source, which has huge potential for use (exceeding the humankind’s prime energy needs by 8,000 times). It is ecologically acceptable (no greenhouse or other gas emissions), widely available (geopolitically independent), reliable. It's also distributed (applicable to small and large-scale PV plants), aesthetical, modular (PV plant sizes vary from just a few watts to several MW) ...

ADVANCED SOURCE OF ELECTRICITY

• Renewable energy source (unlimited to humankind)

• Huge potential for use (exceeding the humankind’s prime energy needs by 8,000 times)

• Ecologically acceptable (no greenhouse or other gas emissions)

• Widely available (geopolitically independent)

• Reliable (the sun keeps on shining)

• State-of-the-art technology (result of modern semiconductor science)

• Distributed (applicable to small and large-scale PV plants)

• Aesthetical (compatible with the natural environment and diverse modern and traditional building designs)

• Modular (PV plant sizes vary from just a few watts to several MW)

• Robustness (wide operating temperature range under high mechanical loads)

• Ease of maintenance (reliable with minimum maintenance requirements)

• Way of operation (soundless)

• Cost competitive

IMPORTANT CONCLUSIONS

• PV can become price competitive in more than 90 % of European electricity market by 2020 .

• With existing technology PV can supply 12 % of electricity demand in Europe by 2020 despite known electricity grid limits.

• To reach 12 % target PV will present more than 25 % of all newly installed electricity production capacities by 2020. This way, PV will become one of the major electricity sources in EU.

• Policy and industry must cooperate closely together in order to form technological development framework, promote innovation and cost reduction. Together they shall aim for competitive and supporting legislation.

• By the above means the role of PV industry is to strengthen its worldwide leading position and create millions of new high-technology working places.

POTENCIAL OF PHOTOVOLTAICS

Important: solar energy could satisfy 2/3 world energy needs in 2100.

Photovoltaics is an industry that has reached its full momentum and can no longer be reverted. As an important player in this industry, Slovenia must recognize the benefits of solar energy in its early stages

and create an important competitive advantage for the future, by promoting its own brand names.
