BISFed 2014 Boccia World Championships
GENERAL OUTLINE OF THE COMPETITION All Events of the BISFed 2014 Boccia World Championships will run in accordance with the
BISFed International Boccia Rules. In case of doubt or disagreement in the interpretation
of the rules, the English version shall prevail. The current BISFed Boccia Rules 2014 can
be found on the BISFed website. Any case not included in this document shall be solved in accordance with the Technical
Delegate for the competition, Ms. Cannie Leung. It is the responsibility of each National
Organization participating in the event to ensure that all competitors and technical
personnel are familiarised with BISFed Boccia Rules. FINAL ENTRIES & ALLOCATION OF INDIVIDUAL SLOTS The information on the final entries as on 4th Sept., 2014 is attached (small changes may occur from some contingency issues and, hence, please check regularly the BISFed website for updates.) The competition format specified for 2014 World Championship on page 13 of the
BISFed Competition System 2014-2016 document published by Competition Committee
of BISFed in November, 2013 will be adopted, with 32, 48, 48 and 32 slots for Individual
BC1, BC2, BC3 and BC4 divisions respectively. As the numbers of BC1, BC3 and BC4 entered were more than the above mentioned
numbers of slots (that of BC2 was exactly 48), forms had been sent to participating
countries to nominate the athletes to fill their automatic slots. The remaining slots were
then allocated to the highest ranked athletes entered in the Team or Pair event who were
not nominated for an entry slot.
After the above procedure, the slots for individual competitions were approved by the
BISFed Competition Committee, except 2 slots for BC3 which were competed by 4
non-ranking players. Please refer to the list thus published.
Hence, it was decided that 2 knock-out matches would be arranged for the 4 non-ranking
BC3 players for the allocation of the remaining 2 slots:
A draw would be conducted during the Team Managers Meeting on 21st September to
assign the 4 players into 2 matches which to be played at 16:30 on 21st September (on
Court 1 and Court 2). Winners of the matches would be awarded the slots.
BISFed 2014 Boccia World Championships
COMPETITION SCHEDULE The pools for teams and pairs have been decided according to competition format
specified for 2014 World Championship and the seeding procedures under 2.3.2 of the
BISFed Competition-System-Manual published by the Competition Committee in July,
2014. The formation of pool structure for individuals would follow the same procedures when
all individual slots are confirmed. The arrangement of Elimination Rounds / Knock-out arrangements and positioning
criteria will follow those elaborated from 2.3.3 to 2.3.7 of the above mentioned
Competition Manual. Attached is the preliminary competition schedule for teams, pairs and individuals. After
the Team Managers Meetings, the Competition Schedule will be confirmed and released.
TEAM MANAGERS MEETINGS There will be two Team Managers Meetings: 1. The first one (with confirmation of teams and pairs schedule, as well as draw for the
knock-out matches for BC3 slots) will be held at 3:00pm on 21st Sept. 2014 (venue to
be confirmed). 2. The second one (with draw of individual competitions) will be held on 23rd Sept.,
2014 (exact time and venue to be confirmed soon).
