Prefixes are groups of letters attached to the beginning of words to make a new word with a
new meaning.Prefix meanings:
"re" - again"un" - not"dis" - not
Example: "pack" is a verb that means to put things away in a container, like a suitcase. If we add the prefix "un" to the beginning of
pack, we get "unpack." This means to not pack or take out of the suitcase what we placed in
the suitcase.
Un+friendly= unfriendly (not friendly)Un+glue – unglue (not to glue)
Un+healthy = unhealthy (not healthy)Re+paint = repaint (paint again)
Re+turn = return(to turn again; to give back)Re+check = recheck (check again)
Dis+obey = disobey (not obey)Dis+appear= disappear (not appear)
Dis+agree = disagree (not agree)
See the phonics page below on page 7. Draw and fill in the chart.
Then write your words using the "Hide and Seek" spelling game where you draw your
words hidden in pictures.Week of5/4 - 5/8
