Eight models of Denville XL3000i™ Pipettes cover all volumes from 0.1µl up to 10ml. A continuouslyadjustable volumeter with digital readout allows simple and accurate dispensing. The robust constructionalong with the low thermal coefficient of the body of each XL3000i™ will prevent hand heat affectingsample measurements and reproducibility, even in prolonged usage. Being lighter than many othersimilar pipettes, they are even more comfortable to hold and operate for extended periods - even in thesmallest hand. This feature will also reduce the incidence of operator fatigue and Repetitive Strain Injury.

The XL3000i™ requires minimal maintenance. Its precise, self-locking stainless steel micrometeraccurately adjusts the stroke of the polished, acid-resistant stainless steel piston. Each piston ismachined to very fine tolerances which, in conjunction with its self-lubricating O-ring and PTFE seal,minimises the need for attention. Using a series of height adapters, the tip ejector position on the shaftis adjustable to allow the pipette’s use with virtually all brands of tips. The user may also choose fromeither of the two supplied ejector button styles to suit their preferred handling position.

Each model is supplied with its own individual certificate of calibration, as a guarantee of the unit’s quality.

Denville’s XL 3000i Multi-Channel Pi pettes allow for com fort able pipetting by both right and left handedusers. The plunger and ejector buttons are er go nom i cal ly located and op er ate smoothly. For com fort ablepipetting in any direction, the tip manifold rotates 360º. The innova tive ejector bar is curved, al low ingthe tips to be pushed off in steps, there fore re duc ing the amount of force re quired for ejec tion.

The use of ad vanced, light weight ma te ri als (in both the body of the pipette and the piston assemblies) resultsin a pipette that will stand up to constant use, yet is easy to hold, even during ex tend ed pipetting sessions.

Denville’s XLE Electronic Pipette is fully Mo-torised to eliminate the hand strain associatedwith repetitive pipetting. It is unexpectedly lightand well-balanced, fitting naturally in either theleft or right hand. Activation of the plunger re-quires only a small, natural movement of theindex finger while the tip ejector slides easily withminimal effort from the thumb. Angled towardthe user, the large LCD is clear and easy to read.

A microprocessor controls operation of the step-ping motor which accurately and precisely drivesthe piston for aspiration and dispensing. An op-tical coupler monitors the plunger position to en-sure that movement is exactly the same everytime. The XLE is self calibrating.

Six operational modes expand the capabilities ofthe XLE beyond routine pipetting. The largescreen and simple interface allow users to easilyselect the appropriate operating parameters. Theprogram memory holds up to nine different setsof operating parameters for future recall. In orderto ensure proper operation of the XLE, the soft-ware includes a self-diagnosis program that con-stantly monitors the accuracy of volume, batterystatus and the auto-calibration function.

The XLE is available in single and multichannelversions. Both have adjustable tip ejectors andshafts designed to accept standard pipette tips.The lower portion of all the XLE models is easilyremoved for autoclaving. The XLE is suppliedcomplete with a rechargeable Lithium-ion bat-tery, a shelf clip and charging adapter. The bat-tery will hold its charge through 2,000 pipettingcycles. Recharging may be accomplished inthree hours without removing the battery fromthe pipette - simply plug the unit into the charg-ing adapter. To ensure you always have acharged unit, extra batteries and an externalcharger are available. Charging batteries in theexternal charger takes 8 hours. An acrylic standfor holding three pipettes as well as additionalshelf hangers are also available.

Biocom offers a complete repair and maintenance service for XL3000i™ pipettes. For details oneach level of service, please contact Biocom or your local distributor.

However, simply cleaning the piston and replacing the seals may significantly improve theperformance of the pipette and extend the time between these overhauls. Cleaning should bedone using a weak cleansing solution. After dissembly, to clean the piston, wipe gently with alint-free cloth. Replace seal and O-ring with clean hands, carefully. If the tipholder is dirty, clean this also - do NOT scrape the surface as this couldaffect the holder to tip seal and therefore adversely affect the unit’sperformance.

XL3000i™ pipettes are built to the highest standards. With a little care andthe above regular maintenance, they should provide many years ofproductive service.

Developed to enhance accuracy in the critical 0 to 20µl range, the length and narrow profile ofthese gel loading tips provide easy access to small orifices. The round format models are idealfor SDS PAGE while the flat and ultra-flat, duck-billed versions are designed for sequencing gels.

The ‘extension’ portion of the Duckbill tips feature a narrow bore microcapillary with parallel wallsresembling a glass capillary, but with the added advantage of flexibility and a bevelled orifice fortotal sample recovery. Those tips with 200µI capacity (83mm) are graduated at 5µl, while thosefor 2µl and 10µl pipettes have graduations at 2µl.

Chillette™ is a highly effective benchtop tube cooler small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. Inaddition to bottom and side insulation, Chillette also has a screw cover filled with liquidrefrigerant which sends cold air down to the samples inside. After being kept in a -20°C freezerovernight, the 0° Chillette will keep samples at 0°C or below for over 8 hours. The -15°C versionwill maintain between -5° and -20°C for 6 hours. The NEW Denville 260D incorporates all the most requested features in a single affordablemicrocentrifuge. The 260D is the quietest centrifuge in its class when used with either of its 45°angle rotors. These 45° angle rotors accept all types of 1.5ml and 2.2ml tubes, including screw-top and self-standing "skirted" tubes. A new strip rotor accepts 0.2ml PCR 8-strips or standard1.5ml tubes. All angle rotors are autoclavable and are supplied with a polypropylene cover that“snaps" on or off easily with one hand.

With its efficient ventilation system, the unit remains cool during repetitive and prolongedoperation. Incorporating a self-cooling ventilation system, even after successive 30 minute spins,sample temperature will not increase by more than 4°C. The 260D may be used in a cold room.

BioLab

Tough-Tag™ Tough-Spots™ are pre-cut, peel-off dots for microcentrifuge, centrifuge, sample &test tubes. Available in 5 colours plus a special for radioactive warning labelling, they offer easysample and tube identification. Tough-Spots™ have all the chemical and physical characteristicsof standard Tough-Tags™. Spots are available in a 9.5mm,12.5mm, 19mm and 25mm diametersizes. An easy to load dispenser is available for both Tough Tag Labels and Spots, see page 16.

Laser Tough-Tag™ spotsLaser Tough-Spots™ are pre-cut sheets of dots for labelling microcentrifuge tubes and cryogenicvials. Simply print with laser or inkjet printers, peel the Tough-Spot™ from the release paper, andpress it on to the tube or other container. These Spots will withstand conventional and cryogenicstorage conditions down to -196˚C (for both vapour and liquid phase nitrogen). Laser Tough-Spots™ are chemically resistant and will withstand boiling water baths at 100˚C and dry heat to150˚C without cracking, peeling or degrading. Laser Tough-Spots™ resist water soaking at roomtemperature and water vapour (100% relative humidity) at 35˚C for at least 24 hours.

Cryogenic tough-tags™

The cryogenic series of Tough-Tags™ are pre-cut labels designed for the labelling ofmicrocentrifuge tubes and vials for use at extremes of temperatures. These unique labels willwithstand conventional freezing and cryogenic liquid nitrogen storage down to -196˚C (for bothvapour and liquid phase nitrogen). Additionally, they are chemically resistant and will withstandboiling water baths at 100˚C and dry heat to 150˚C without cracking, peeling or degrading.

Laser Cryo-Tags™ are ultra-flexible polyolefin labels with a solvent-resistant acrylic adhesive.They are chemically inert and adhere to all plastics, glass and metal. Thermal Transfer Tough-Tags™ use a special solvent resistant acrylic-based adhesive whichprovides excellent cold temperature performance, down to -196ºC (liquid and vapour phasenitrogen). The matt top coat resists degradation from scuffing, chemical, moisture and widetemperature fluctuations. Also the matt white face stock is specially coated for use with a widerange of resin and wax ribbons*. Thermal Transfer Tough-Tags™ are compatible with a widevariety of thermal printers. pETrI-SEaL™ petri dish sealing tapePetri-Seal tape is specifically designed for sealing the lids of petri dishes, microtitre plates andculture plates. The unique elastomer characteristics of Petri-Seal allows the tape to stretch andconform around the irregular perimeter of these vessels to form a tight seal. Petri-Seal willprevent water vapour loss, reduce the rate of gas exchange, and prevent the entry ofcontaminants. Petri-Seal is waterproof and chemically resistant to most organic solvents andcaustic agents. Petri-Seal is made from a durable 0.1mm thick tape which is abrasion andpuncture resistant.

The Lab Marker provides permanent marking on all types ofplastic disposables.
