Amelia was taking part in the ‘Clubs’ afternoon in which they were learning about healthy food choices and a healthy mindset with Miss Schmidt. George was very accommodating along with the rest of his Year 4 class as we undertook a lesson in Mathematics which is one of George’s favourite part of his day. We had meaningful conversations about their interests and I was impressed by their commitment to their learning. It is most definitely a highlight of my week spending time in the classroom with the students. I wonder who will be next in the Principal Pop In? Cultural Days at The Living Classroom The first instalment of the cultural days will be conducted on Monday, 12 August. We had many students from across the school return the EOI which is fantastic to see. All students who have nominated to attend will be accompanied by teaching staff to The Living Classroom to participate in this day. Students are encouraged to pack their lunch, however, lunch orders can be accommodated. Junior Netball Over 40 students have returned their EOIs to be a part of the Junior Netball competition and we have confirmation that the competition will go ahead in the next two weeks. Further details regarding registration will be released soon, but all parents will need to apply for their Active Kids voucher prior to registration (if you choose to use your voucher in this way). Further details will be posted on our Facebook page in the near future. Thank you to the parents who have signed up to join the committee and invest in more opportunities for our students to remain active after school. It is such an important part of their life.. SECONDARY SPORT What a week we have had for sport in Secondary last week! On Wednesday, Brooke McKinnon, Isabelle Butler and Leilani Tevaga all travelled with Warialda High School to Newcastle where the Jammers took on the State's best teams in the Under 16 Girl's Combined High School Rugby Union State Finals. The girls came third in the State after edging out Hunter 22-17 in a close match. Friday saw 4 students travel to Tamworth to participate in the North-West athletics carnival. We had some fantastic results with Will Johnson coming 3rd in the 400m, attaining the first-reserve status for the State Carnival, and 6th in the 800m. Shaylah Richardson came 5th in the Javelin, Jai Booth 6th in Long Jump and Isabelle Butler 11th in Shotput. Finally, on the weekend Brooke McKinnon and Leilani Tevaga took on NSW City in the Under 15 Girls City vs Country Rugby Union match. NSW Country made an impression early in the game, breaking through NSW City's defences for the first points in the game. However, NSW City bounced back and eventually won 15-5. In addition, the girls, plus Brandon Tevaga, were successful in their trials for the CNJRU 7-a-side team. They will now compete in the NSW JRU State 7s Championship in Foster Tuncurry 11-13 October. Upcoming, we have a League Tag day for all Secondary girls Year 9 or younger on Tuesday, 13 August in Inverell. The winner of this event plays in the Regional Finals in Bingara! Let's hope that the girls can make it through to have that home ground advantage. Riley Eastcott Secondary Sports Coordinator

The Twits – Roxy Performance

Roald Dahl’s The Twits performance will be held next Wednesday, 14 August at The Roxy. This is a comedy of rebellion and justice in which Muggle - Wump the monkey races to outwit Mr and Mrs Twit, two of most terrible and disgusting people ever to have lived. Playfulness and tricks are more successful than following the rules in this classic Roald Dahl story, making it fantastically well suited to the grotesque world of puppet theatre. Children must return permission notes along with $12

per child if they wish to attend this fun activity by

Tuesday, 13 August.

Every Hero Has a Story! Primary students will be involved in reading and writing workshops on Wednesday , 21 August to celebrate Education and Book Week. More details with regards to this lunch will be provided next week. Students are invited to come dressed in the theme Reading is my Super Power! A costume parade and games on the oval will be held after lunch.
