Teach First
Teach First Employer Presentation
- 29th October, 1pm @ the Pitt
Building
Find out about the excellent
opportunities offered by Teach
First, including our Leadership
Development Programme (LDP) –
a two-year commitment that
combines teacher training and a
fully-funded PGCE qualification
with one-to-one leadership
coaching. Learn how you’ll
develop leadership qualities that
can be applied to any working
environment, no matter where
your career takes you afterwards.
In this presentation you’ll hear
first-hand accounts of what
teaching in a Teach First school is
like, get details on how to apply
for the LDP and our
undergraduate opportunities, and
gain an insight into the social
injustice that exists in the UK -
where the link between low family
income and poor educational
attainment is greater than in
almost any other developed
country.
Drinks and nibbles will be
available afterwards, with the
opportunity to speak to members
of our graduate recruitment team
and to individuals who have
already completed the LDP.
It is essential that you register for
the event in advance. You can do
so here: http://bit.ly/1OSqePQ

Scouts
Hi all,
Are you looking for volunteering
opportunities that
are fun, challenging,flexible, and
don't require any previous
experience or skills, and
wouldlook REALLY good on
your CV? Read on if that is the
case!!
I was a NatSci in Clare and have
just started my PhD in Physics. I
have always loved the idea of
volunteering and being able to
make a positive impact in the local
community. I have done lots of
volunteering work in the past but
nothing could really compare with
the experience I have had with the
14th Cambridge Scout Group. I
joined them a year ago, having no
experience in Scouting
whatsoever. Since then I have
learnt many new skills, done
things I would have never done
without Scouting, met people from
all walks of life and had a
fabulous time with them. I have
recently taken over as one of their
Section Leaders and am in charge
of running weekly meetings for 25
Scouts (age 10-14) during term
time, while keeping an active
academic and social life!
Volunteering for Scouting is much
easier than you think! You don't
need to be a survivor like Bear
Grylls to volunteer. In fact, I knew
nothing about survival or
traditional Scouting skills last year
when I joined. Training is
provided free of charge and you
can gain qualifications that would
almost certainly help you in your
future career.
Volunteering for Scouting is also
very flexible: you can give as
much or as little time as you like,
and you can fit volunteering
around all your other
commitments. We
have opportunities for everyone:
you may only want to help out
once a month in our meetings,
with certain activities that you
specialise in, or help organising
events behind the scenes and
managing group projects.
We would very much love to have
more young adults like you in our
Scouting family. Join us in the
adventure and together we can
change the lives of many young
people!
It has been a thoroughly enjoyable
and rewarding experience for me
and I would really encourage you
to give it a go! If you would like
more information, please don't
hesitate to contact me.
We are having a jumble sale at
10.30am this Saturday (17th
October) at St. Luke's church,
CB4 3DZ. Feel free to pop round
if you would like to grab some
nice stuff (e.g. plates, mugs, board
games, clothes, simple electrical
appliances etc.).
Thanks!
Best wishes,

OC&C
If you're at the point where you're
working out what the next steps are
after university, there's no doubt
you'll be inundated with options - a
lot of which might not sound too
familiar. After spending some years
engaging with some of the most
complex problems in your field, you
might be looking for a career option
which allows you to keep on
stretching and refining your thinking.
One which gives you the scope to
apply the skills you've developed to a
completely new challenge. That's
what OC&C can do for you.
We see ourselves as the challenger
brand in the strategy consulting
industry - we do things differently to
the traditional firms. We work with
senior executives, providing solutions
to their most important and
challenging problems. Problems that
keep senior executives up at night—
and look to people like you to solve.
We look for bright, motivated,
creative graduates who can think
outside the box when presented with
a problem and work together with
like-minded individuals to develop
innovative solutions to pertinent
problems in business.
If this sounds like the kind of
challenge you want to take on, we are
holding a selection of events to help
you find out more about us in a
relaxed, informal setting. Find out
