WelCome To

biglittleCitybiglittleCity is a celebration of Cardiff and Cardiff’s creative talent for anything:

photography, film, writing, music and performance, animation, illustration or painting.

biglittleCity is about the city and the experience of its residents and as such we are extremely focused on collaboration.

The biglittleCity team has been invited to stage a four-month exhibition to help launch Cardiff’s prestigious new people’s museum The Cardiff Story at the old

library building, The hayes, in the heart of our city.

opening in march 2011, the biglittleCity exhibition will showcase everything that is special about the Welsh capital and is set to attract thousands of visitors.


We loVe CardiffWe love the people, the places and the history...

yoU loVe CardiffJust as much as us, but in a different way and for different reasons...

leT’S TalkWe want to create a space for this conversation to take place,

where we can find out more about the city we love and shine a light on what makes it special for us...


Take a PhoTo, make a film, PainT a PiCTUre

or sing a song or write a poem or make a collage or knit a scarf... it can be of anything that signifies Cardiff to you and everything is valid.

bUT i Can’T PainT, WriTe or danCeor think of anything to do for that matter.

WhaT aboUT me? We thought about you actually and came up with some

really easy ways for you to get on board.


here are just a few:

Cardiff:CharaCTerSThe project that got blC started - dan Green photographs the people who make

Cardiff what it is to him as well as taking suggestions from the public.

off The WallWorking with Cardiff’s animation community. We imagine what the animals on Cardiff Castle’s

famous animal wall get up to while the rest of the city is asleep.

keeP UP CardiffCreated from user generated footage. a football travels around the city, being passed from person

to person, showing the hidden corners of the city we love.

GeT yoUr CoaTCreate your own take on Cardiff’s coat of arms. We will invite school parties to take part in

workshops where they can complete a group Coat of arms.

hiP-hoP ProJeCTmCs submit an accapella and a beat created by Junior disprol (dead residents). all of the parts will

be released under a Creative Commons licence for people to add to or create their own mixes.

SPillerS T-ShirT ComPeTiTionSpillers records t-shirts are iconic, worn by Cardiff ians around the globe as a badge of pride. We’ve teamed up with The oldest record Shop in The World to offer you the chance to design your own!


Then WhaT?We’ll be taking up residence in The Cardiff Story for 5 months from february 2011. Collaborating, collating and creating more work for the first month, and launching in

march 2011 when we start the exhibition proper.
