Before the first use Operating the tumble dryer Drying Changing the programme Programme chart OPERATING THE TUMBLE DRYER DRYING CHANGING THE PROGRAMME SEQUENCE TMV 840 WP en - AU, NZ M.-Nr. 10 204 870/00 ɘBefore using the tumble dryer for the first time, ensure that it is correctly instal- led and connected. If the tumble dryer has not been trans- ported as described in the operating ins- tructions, then it must be left to stand for at least 1 hour before it is connected to the electricity supply. Otherwise the heat pump can be damaged. It is essential to read the operating instruc- tions. Energy saving tips To avoid unnecessarily long drying times and high consumption of energy: Make sure your laundry is spun at the maximum spin speed before drying. Load according to the optimum amount of laundry recommended for the programme being used. Under- loading is uneconomical. Overloading gives poorer quality of drying and may cause unnecessary creasing. Clean the fluff filters in the door and in the door opening after every drying cycle. Delay start Fragrance flacon Cleaning and care Problem solving guide

Quick Start GuideHeat pump tumble dryer

These short instructions are not a substitute for the operating instructions supplied with the appliance. Please read the operating instructions supplied with your tumble dryer before using it for the first time and take note of the Warning and Safety instructions, as well as the full descriptions on how to use your appliance.

Tip: Using a fragrance flacon (optional accessory) will add a pleasant fragrance to your laundry.

Before using a fragrance flacon, please read "Warning and Safety instructions - Using a fragrance flacon (optional acces-sory)" and "Fragrance flacon" in the ope-rating instructions.

Inserting a fragrance flacon1. 2.

3. 4.

Markers and must line up with one another.

5. 6.

ĺ Turn the outer ring clockwise a little.

Before drying ĺ Turn the outer

ring clockwise a little.

The further you open the flacon, the more intense the fragrance.

After dryingTo avoid the fragrance escaping needlessly:

ĺ Turn the outer ring anti-clock-wise until marker is in position .

If you want to dry laundry occasionally without adding fragrance: remove the fra-grance flacon and store it in its original packaging until you want to use it again. See the following section.

Before cleaning the fluff filters ĺ Remove the

fragrance flacon (reverse points 3 and 4) and store it in its original packaging.

Never lay the fra-grance flacon down on any sur-face as the fra-grance will run out.

Fluff filters

Removing visible fluff

Clean the fluff filters in the door opening after every drying cycle.

ɘ Remove the fragrance flacon (if fitted).

ĺ Pull the upper fluff filter forwards to remove it.

ĺ Use your fingers or a vacuum cle-aner to remove the fluff from the surface of the fil-ter.

ĺ Push the upper fluff filter back into posi-tion until it clicks.

ĺ Close the door.

Cleaning the fluff filters and air flow openings thoroughly

If the drying duration has become longer or the surface of the filters is visibly com-pacted with fluff, you should carry out the following cleaning procedure.

ĺ Pull the upper fluff filter forwards to remove it.

ĺ Turn the yellow dial on the lower fluff filter in the direction of the arrow (until you hear it click).

ĺ Hold the dial and pull the fluff filter forwards to remove it.

ĺ Use a vacuum cleaner with a long crevice nozzle attached to remove any visible fluff from the upper air flow openings.

ĺ Flush the fluff filters through with warm running water.

ĺ Shake the fluff filters thoroughly and then dry them carefully.

ɘ Ensure the filters are dry before repla-cing them. Wet filters could cause operati-onal faults.

ĺ Refit all of the fluff filters and close the door.

Checking the heat exchanger unit

ɘ Danger of injury! Do not touch the coo-ling fins. You could cut yourself.

ĺ Carefully vacuum up any visible fluff or dirt.

Refitting the plinth filter ĺ Fit the filter back

on the handle. Make sure it is the correct way round.

ĺ Insert the handle with the plinth filter attached over the two guide pins.

The word Miele on the handle must be the correct way up.

ĺ Close the heat exchanger access panel.

Plinth filterOnly clean the plinth filter when Clean out airways lights up.

To delete Clean out airways: Switch the dryer off and back on again or confirm with OK.

ĺ Press the round, indented area on the heat exchan-ger access panel to open it. The panel will spring open.

ĺ Pull the plinth filter out by the handle.

Removing the plinth filter will cause the right-hand guide pin in the dryer to come out. This pin ensures that the heat exchan-ger access panel can only be closed if the plinth filter is inserted the right way round.

ĺ Pull the handle out of the plinth filter.

ĺ Clean the filter thoroughly under running water.

ĺ Squeeze the water out of the plinth filter thoroughly.

ɘ The plinth filter must not be replaced dripping wet as this can cause a fault.

ĺ Use a damp cloth to remove any fluff from the access panel.

Emptying the condensed water container

Empty the condensed water container after every drying programme.

Empty the container will light up in the dis-play if the maximum level of the condensed water container is reached. To delete Empty the container: open and close the door while the dryer is switched on.

ɘ Close the door fully. Otherwise the door and the front panel of the condensed water container could suffer damage when pulling the container out.

ĺ Pull out the condensed water container.

ĺ To prevent water running out, hold it at the front and towards the back and keep it in a horizontal position when carrying it.

ĺ Empty the container.

ĺ Replace the con-tainer in the dryer.

ɘ Do not drink condensed water. It can cause health problems in people and ani-mals.

Selecting Delay start ĺ After selecting the programme, touch the Start at sensor.

ĺ Use the – and + sensors to set the time (minutes are set in blocks of 15 minutes).

ĺ Confirm each entry by touching the OK sensor.

Starting Delay start ĺ Touch the flashing Start/Stop sensor. – The time at which the programme will start automatically will appear in the dis-play.

– The drum will turn briefly every hour until the start of the programme to reduce creasing.

Changing Delay start after it has started counting down ĺ Touch the Change sensor. ĺ Touch the sensor which shows the pro-gramme start time.

You can either start the programme imme-diately or change the time: ĺ Touch the appropriate sensor to do this.

Adding or removing laundry before the programme starts ĺ You can open the door to add/remove laundry.

ĺ Touch the flashing Start/Stop sensor so that the time continues to count down.

Cancelling Delay start ĺ Touch the Start/Stop sensor. ĺ Confirm Cancel Delay start.
