her baby. Congratulations to you and your family at this exciting time Rebecca – we will look forward to meeting the new member of your family next year, and see you back working with us from around 2018. And finally, goodbye to Liz Evans. Liz has applied and won a senior Teaching position at Girraween. Liz has also been at Bees Creek for many years and will be missed but we wish her all the best in her new school. Shona Henderson Principal [email protected]
Thank you This being the last newsletter for 2016, I wanted to thank you all for a fantastic year. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year here and feel we have accomplished a lot in what seems to be a very short 12 months! I can’t wait for 2017 and all the wonderful initiatives we have planned. Happy holiday to everyone, and I will look forward to seeing you all again next year. Goodbyes It is with mixed emotions that I announce the following staff who will be moving on from Bees Creek: Linda Brodie will be moving on
to Berry Springs next year. Linda has been at Bees Creek for many years and she feels it is time for a change! Linda will be missed but we wish her all the best in her new school. Lynne Logan, one of our treasured ‘front office ladies’ will be away for 2017, living in Spain with her family. All the very best Lynne, you will be missed (and we are all jealous!). Sarah Featherstone who works in the Preschool, is also going to be away for 2017, while she moves back to Adelaide to be closer to family. Sarah will also be greatly missed but we also wish her the best. Rebecca Edwards is off to have

News from the Sports Desk
The 2016 school year has now come to an end! Over the past 6 months I have had a fantastic time teaching P.E and I am grateful for the opportunity to do so. On behalf of myself and Jenna Clarke I would like to thank all of our helpers this year. Without the extra help we receive our job would be much harder and somethings just wouldn’t happen. I would like to congratulate the following students who
have received Sports Awards this year The recipient of the Aus-tralian Olympic Commit-tee Boxing Kangaroo Me-dallion this year is Breanah Corpus. The recipient of the Junior Primary Sports Award is Zac Pears. The recipient of the Mid-dle Primary Sports Award is Diana. The recipient of the Upper Primary Sports Award is
Robert Rainger. The recipient of the Kezia Purick Excellence in Sport Award this year is Patrick Snell. I will not be returning in 2017 as I will be going on maternity leave. I hope that everyone has a safe and happy holiday and I am sure I will pop in from time to time next year! Rebecca Edwards

News from the Chair are in the process of doing this and will have a new email address up and running in the new school year. We are hop-ing that this will make it easier for the school community to voice any concerns or infor-mation that you may want to bring to council’s attention, in an appropriate way. School Council will meet again early in the new year for our AGM and at this meeting, the 2017 School Council will be elected. I would like to encourage you to attend the AGM and be involved in the School Council next year. It is a great way to be involved and have input into the school. Secondly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the dedicated teachers and support staff who are guiding our children in their education. Thank you to the wonderful staff in the office who help the school run smoothly, the excellent grounds people, care takers, and cleaners who keep our school clean and safe, our wonderful canteen operator for all her hard work providing a canteen service to the school and to all the
enthusiastic parents who volunteered their time and effort this year to make Bees Creek Primary School such a great school for our children. Thank you to our Principal Shona Henderson and our Vice Principal Sharon Chin. You are both so passionate about providing the best possible education for our children. I look forward to seeing some of the great plans that you have for our school, come more into fruition in the new year. Lastly, I’d like to give a special thanks to my other School Council members. Thank you for volunteering your time and for all the effort that you have put in. Thank you for making school council a fun and enjoyable group to be involved in. I wish all the School Community a very happy Christmas and a safe New Year. I look forward to what 2017 has to offer our wonderful community. Kind Regards Marissa Vetter School Chairperson.
So here we are – the last newsletter of the year. Without sounding too clichéd, I can’t believe this year has gone by so quickly. I would like to start off today by thanking all of those w h o a t t e n d e d t h e information meeting last week regarding the new BYOD policy. It was good to see so many of our school community who are passion-ate about and invested in their children’s education. School council met last week prior to the information session to discuss concerns regarding the BYOD policy and decided that more consultation was needed. We agreed that more time was needed for this consultation to occur. We put a hold on the BYOD policy and will be discussing it more in Council in the new year. It was clear at the BYOD information session that the school community needed a better way of communicating their concerns or ideas with school council, so an excel-lent idea of creating a Bees Creek School Council email address was suggested. We
Fundraising Roundup Thank you to our School community for all your effort and support of our fundrais-ing initiatives this year. We have had too many people putting their hand up to help for me to possible mention you all, but please accept our deepest thanks. Overall this year we have raised an estimated figure of $24000 (figures will be finalized after the end of the school year). Some of the things that the school has invested in this year with fundraising money include technology upgrades and purchasing materials for the new Makerspaces.
Bees Creek Primary School has a proud history of fund-raising to provide an amazing school environment for our children to learn in and excel-lent resources for them to use. We have always had really dedicated and enthusi-astic parents who co-ordinate the events that make this fundraising possible. In 2017 we will be looking for a new fundraising coordinator. This is a voluntary role that is a part of the school council. The role requires a person who is good at liaising with the school community, staff and council about fundraising
events. It requires a person who is able to oversee all fundraising efforts and sup-port individual event coordi-nators to make sure they have everything they need to run the event. If you feel like this is a role that you would enjoy doing or feel like you would like to improve your skills in this area, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0417 794 734.
