On Saturday August 20, 2016, A roundup of BDCs got together at Redondo Beach for no ordinary Beach Day.
Putting the Phil in Philanthropy, our very own Phil Dahlin (BI BDC) kicked off the event with a table of tastefully selected breakfast foods and fresh buckets awaiting their dirty fate.
Wearing matching team shirts and gloves provided by Uncle Larry, BDCs and friends scavenged the beach and collected every piece of ocean harming plastic that crossed their path.
In the buckets were some bizarre pieces of trash: A crushed La Croix can, a receipt from Subway, and a Salesforce CRM tool.

go-getter, a trend-setter. Chef Chris with

the grill go from 0-100 degrees real quick.
With the flick of his wrist, Williams was able to
turn over not one, but two hot dogs. The grill
was lit.
Although Williams and the grill sparked a
lot of conversation, as it was a hot topic, a lot
of other interactions occurred. This time not

explore the green field. From SMB to Enterprise teams,
managers observed from afar as BDCs created real
interactions. While some BDCs stayed on premise
observing the clouds on this beautiful day, other BDCs
wandered off to the Sandbox nearby. During this time,
managers congregated and discussed incentives that
deemed successful to their teams.

On Wednesday August 24 at 5:00PM PST,
BDC?s congregated together to enjoy the
happiest of hours at the Craftsman Bar and
Kitchen. Although Veterans and Rookies were
involved in whiskey business and grape
decisions, no BDC drank beyond the pint of no
return. It was safe to say that BDCs decided
which beer to drink on a case by case basis.
The buzz of the night was when Hinsta
Kifle, (CX BDC,) ordered a virgin cocktail,
but there was no proof. Spencer
Allegaert, (CX BDC) drank red wine
and ended up getting a cab. As the
night was coming to an end, no
BDCs were harmed and no leave of
absinthe was taken the following
Monday. #PunCount

courtyard of the Water Gardens at the opening celebration, a long-awaited event
following months of construction. Our well-loved Water Gardens food vendors

harpist, a live jazz band, an acoustic guitarist, and 2 mysterious falcons. The first
day out in the completed courtyard was filled with sunshine and the Water
Garden's happiest tenants. Enjoying the courtyard during the opening lunch are

The Santa Monica hub may be an infant in terms of age, but its sprint
towards adulthood resembles a teenager undergoing an awkward and dramatic
growth spurt. Striving for excellence in the midst of bright sunshine, world-class
dining and surfers galore, the Santa Monica office made great strides in its few
months of existence. Although several more months may pass before we all
share the same building at the Water Gardens (an office complex of four
buildings), the four pioneering Class Of cohorts have made the most of their
temporary arrangements. Three Oracle floors are currently utilized: the second
floor of the temp building, and the first and sixth floors of the destination office
building. Here, we reflect on the history of the newest Oracle Direct hub, and the
unique experiences acquired along the way. (cont. page 6)

TEAM LEACHMAN SHOWS THE WESTSIDE FOOD BANK SOME LOVE AND CAN-PASSION
You?ve seen t he bins. Perhaps you?ve mistaken them for trash bins at one point, but it 's purpose is much more noble. This canned food drive was the brainchild of Jade Knoop (CX BDC) and Shannon Durkee (CX BDC).
It started with a walk by the West Side Food Bank around the corner from the Water Garden at the beginning of Q1. ?We?re in a good position with Oracle to help our communities, and Oracle has a budget for volunteer events. We thought this was a perfect way to give back
to our communities and ease hunger directly for local families in Santa Monica.?
The Westside Food bank is an independent, non-profit organization seeking to aid the vulnerable members of our communities: local families living in domestic violence shelters, children, veterans,
seniors, and homeless individuals.
How the cans stacked up by location: Tem p Space: 60 cans
First Floor : 3/4th full
Sixt h Floor : 2 cans
Though can collection period is over, you can still lend a helping hand at the West Side Food bank at 1710 22nd St, Santa Monica, CA 90404, or reach out to Jade Knoop or Shannon Durkee about any volunteering opportunities.
Thank you for donating!

Liz Riggins, (Tech BDC) was one of the brave souls who helped launch the legacy of our beautiful hub. She reflects on the difficulty of not having mentors around to show her the ropes, but is also thankful that she shared the experience with a group of peers and friends. She believes the unique experience helped them bond and become a tight-knit community. She stands in front of a wall mapping the Santa Monica area.
Danielle Falconer (CX BDC) joined Oracle with the July Class Of. Her experience was unique in that her Class was small enough for everyone to become well acquainted, but large enough for everyone to find their own niche as well. She stands in front of the cubicles in the temp space, where many of her fellow BDCs have decorated their area based on their Alma Mater and interests outside of work.
Page 6 Vol um e I , Issue I
Er ic Golden (HCM BDC) He began in the temp space, moved to the 1st floor of the main building in May, and then finally moved to his final workspace on the 6th floor in June. Eric believes that the best thing about the Santa Monica Oracle community is everyone?s high spirits.
Br ianna Bro, (CX BDC) wound up on the 1st floor as her final destination. She enjoys that her office space has a bright, open layout that encourages collaboration. It 's also the closest to the numerous quality food trucks serving the Water Gardens. Most importantly, Brianna enjoys the unique identity that the 1st floor community has built at Oracle.
Jack Chang (CX BDC) had the opportunity to learn from the February BDCs, but was also responsible for setting a competitive pace for the summer hires yet to arrive. The June Class mentored new Class Ofs after only having their hands dirty for a few weeks. Despite being the largest of the summer hire groups, the members of the June cohort managed to become a supportive and collaborative community. Jackie can be seen below demonstrating his game face.
Am ber Harbot t le and Haleigh Dalm ass (SMB Tech BDCs) Being the last Class Of hires for the summer, they took advantage of the largest pool of resources and mentors. They joke that because the ?senior? BDCs made such great leaps in their short time at Oracle, there is an illusion of an age gap. As the smallest Class Of group for Santa Monica, they were also able to create a tight-knit community right from the start. They are standing behind the temp space ping-pong table, where BDCs go to clear their minds after a hard day of piping opportunities.
" WE DIDN'T HAVE MENTORS TO SHOW US THE ROPES,BUT IT HELPED US BOND AND CREATE A TIGHT-KNIT
COMMUNITY."

Gwendolyn Om olabi is Oracle?s top
Applications BDC in the country Q1 2016 and
Santa Monica Hub?s Top Gun Award Achiever
for August 2016. She comes from a small
town in Maryland and is making a name for
herself out in Santa Monica. Her interesting
background contributes to her hard work
ethic and bright personality.
Can you t ell m e a l i t t le bit about your
hist ory?
I am first generation American. Both
of my parents came from Nigeria. They
worked really hard to get here and I am so
grateful for this opportunity. I feel like I don?t
do this for myself but I do it for my parents
who sacrificed everything for me to have this
opportunity in this country. I grew up in touch
with my heritage and my mother always
instilled in me the importance of working
hard and always doing the right thing. That is
something I carry along with me in everything
that I do and I really think my mother is the
reason that I am where I am today.
What are 3 int erest ing fact s about you?
One fun fact is that I used to write for
PBS Television before I worked for Oracle. I
love writing. Sales was a perfect way to
combine my communications skills with
interacting with people. I have a musical
background and play 6 instruments: violin,
euphonium, steel drum, trombone, guitar,
and a litt le bit of piano. I did a solo South
Eastern Asia backpacking trip
What languages do you speak?
I speak English, Spanish, French,
Yoruba, I am currently learning Mandarin. My
parents met in Ukraine, so I even speak a litt le
bit of Russian.
If you had $100,000,000 dollars what would
you do w it h it ?
I would give the majority to causes
around educational development.
Philanthropy is something that I am really
interested in. I am also very interested in
educational development and economic
development on an international scope. But
the first I would probably go on a major
shopping spree!
If you could have one super power , what
would it be and why?
If I had one super power it would be
telekinesis. I would telekinetically make my
prospects pick up the phone 100% of the
time. At least between the hours of 7-5.
What is your em bar rassing m om ent ?
I have really bad balance and occasionally I
fall... When I met Will-I-Am in college, we were
performing in the band, I was marching, and
kind of lost balance and fell. That was
probably one of the more embarrassing
moments. I talked to him afterwards and he
was really nice.
If you were t rapped in an elevat or w it h
Lar ry Ell ison what would you say/ do?
I would just pick his brain on everything that
he has done with Oracle and hear about what
his plans are for moving the company
forward. Something I am really passionate
about is diversity and inclusion for women
and minorities. I love working for Oracle
because we have such a progressive stance,
we have employee resource groups and a
commitment to diversity and inclusion. With
Safra Catz as the CEO you can see that the
company fosters an inclusive environment.

Disclaimer: When describing the parking situations for our beloved Food Trucks on Pennsylvania Ave, words don?t quite make the cut. These vessels of nourishment fight to the last limb to grab a parking spot on this golden road of foodies, and so the ever-asked question of ?Is that food truck there today?? will continue. Only the food trucks who consistently outsmart their competitions are listed above, the rest play the
parking game. The best way to know when your food truck is here? Follow them on Twitter.
