Battle Ground Summer Playground Program Thanks to a $6,000 Riverview Community Bank sponsorship, the City of Battle Ground's Summertime Playground Program provided recreational fun to children living in north Clark County. Battle Ground Volunteer Program A $2,000 Parks Foundation grant enabled the City of Battle Ground to launch a Park Volunteer Program. New Playground Equipment in Camas Waste Connections’ $15,000 sponsorship funded a Parks Foundation grant for the purchase and installation of new playground equipment in Forest Home Park. Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation Scholarship Program: $32,658 The Everybody Plays! Recreation Scholarship Program received a $13,563 Parks Foundation grant , a $15,000 Community Founda- tion Community Giving Fund grant, a $1,500 grant from Umqua Bank, and an additional $2,595 through the New Seasons Delicious Donations program. Recreation scholarships help make fee-based recreation programs available to children from low-income families in Clark County. Evergreen Park Summer Playground Program Through a partnership with the United Way, Violia, Audigy Group, Banner Bank, and the Murphy Family, the Parks Foundation awarded $11,500 to fund safe, supervised summer activities for children living in the Fourth Plain Village neighborhood. Water Trail Guide Design and Printing In partnership with Tidewater, the Parks Foundation funded $10,000, and the National Park Service contributed $1,300, to total $11,300 for the design and production of a Lewis River-Vancouver Lake Waterway Trail Guide. Yacolt Skate Park Phase One of the Yacolt Town Park Skate Park Project was funded through a $16,760 Parks Foundation grant. Washougal Trail Construction The Parks Foundation funded $2,920 in support of the City of Washougal’s Cedar View Trail Project. Sensory Camp The Parks Foundation supported the efforts of parents in raising the funds required to ensure this program, which provides children with special needs a safe, structured, and engaging summer camp experience, continued through Summer 2012. Art Supplies and Programs In a year of massive program cuts and reductions, a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation will fund the purchase of art supplies to ensure the continuation of art programs at Marshall and Firstenburg Community Centers. Marshall Community Park Improvements A $35,000 grant from the Vancouver Rotary Foundation will fund the construciton of Phase Two of the Marshall Park Nature Play Area, the purchase and installation of new toddler playground equipment, and plantings to Senior Programs at Luepke Center The Parks Foundation received $33,379 through the Theodore Barney Trust and the Merle Hogg Fund for support of programs benefitting the fifty-and-better population at the Rudy Luepke Senior Center. Teen Programs at Marshall & Firstenburg Centers Hundreds of teens will have a safe place to go on Friday nights again, thanks to a $25,000 award from the Community Foundation to reinstate the Late Night programs at Marshall and Firstenburg community centers. John and Debra Bauman Free Swim Programs The owners of Bauman Chiropractic donated $12,000 through the Parks Foundation to provide swim lessons for 100 children who would otherwise not have been able to afford them, and sponsor the Saturday afternoon free family swim sessions at Marshall Pool, which is open to all.
