    Objectives:

    Students will work as partners and individually to perform continuous levels of activity and skills through different apprentices.Students will learn the basics for basketball.

    Students will demonstrate accuracy in performing all activities in the obstacle course at 80% mastery

    Materials/Equipment needed: Each student will need a partner (decided by the teacher) as well as one basketball between the two

    students.

    Procedures Time

    Introductory Activity:Have the students jog around the gym for four minutes without stopping before beginning the activity. Nexthave the students get a drink from the drinking fountain and meet in the middle of the gym. Divide the studentsinto sets of p

    artners according to their birth months.

    4 minutes for warm-up

    Activity Description:This activity will consist of three stations, each of which will help the students with skills needed to play

    basketball. Explain the rotation order to the students and remind them to listen for the whistle indicating time tochange stations. Review each station activity and encourage the students to ask any questions they may have

    about each station. Remind the students that instructions and pictures for each station are posted with the stationmarkers.

    Learning Lesson Activity:

    Station 1: Free-throws

    With a partner, practice free-throws. Free throws are an unimpeded shot at the basket from the free-throw line.

    Station 2: Lay-ups

    With a partner, practice lay-ups. Lay-ups are one-handed, banked shot made close to the basket afterdriving in.

    Station 3: Passes

    With a partner, practice the three types of passes. These passes include: the overhead, chest, and bounce

    passes. The students should be aware of how to do them from previous years.

    Station 4: Dribbling

    With a partner, practice dribbling while guarding at the same time. Be sure to encourage moving the ballfrom the left hand to the right hand or vice-versa.

    Closing Activity:Have the students put the balls back in the bin and walk along around the gym twice to cool down. Meet in the

    middle to review everything the students have learned.
