LES RAMBLES

La Rambla is a street in central Barcelona, popular with both tourists and locals alike. A 1.2 kilometer-long tree-lined pedestrian mall between BarrI Gòtic and El Raval, it connects Plaça de Catalunya in the centre with the Christopher Columbus monument at Port Vell. CARLES BULLICH

It is a 60 m tall monument for Christopher Columbus at the lower end of La Rambla. It was constructed for the Exposición Universal of Barcelona (1888). It has eight statues of lions around it.

El Portal de l’Angel is a pedestrian street in Barcelona famous for combining a large number of

commercial establishments. This street is connected to Plaça Catalunya.

• Port Vell is a waterfront harbour in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, and part of the Port of Barcelona. It was built as part of an urban renewal program prior to the 1992 Barcelona Olimpics. Before this, it was a run-down area of empty warehouses, railroad yards, and factories. 16 million people visit the complex each year.

The “Sagrada Família” is a very important church, created by the catalane artist and architect Antoni Gaudí. They started with the construction in 1882. It is catalane modernism. Still today the building is not finished. This year the pope of Rome came to Barcelona and celebrated a holy mass in the Sagrada familia. So it is very famous all over the world. Inside it is very decorated and has many columns. The Sagrada familia has beautiful windows of colored glass. The Sagrada familia is a very important moment for Barcelona.

The Parlament is in Ciutadella Park. It is very big and you can visit it. There is also the red carpet.

It is the institution of Generalitat of Catalunya (the catalan government) .

It was built in march 1716.

Palau Sant Jordi

Palau Sant Jordi is an indoor sport stadium in Barcelona, built for the Olympic Games in 1992. It is also used for concerts. Víctor
