“Banglalink”- a name of the second largest Telecom service provider of Bangladesh. It has an epidemic growth rate of 275% which is absolutely stunning. When Banglalink came into operation in Bangladesh in 2005, February the market situation was not that much good rather than it was competitive enough. But Banglalink with its efficient workforce and absolute strategies made a very better position in this competitive market. Banglalink continues to play an active role in the area of corporate social responsibility. Because it honors the significance of Corporate Social Responsibility over any sustainable growth of a business. It always remained cautious It Banglalink has given Dhaka International Airport - the gateway of Bangladesh a completely new look. Provision of high quality passenger trolleys, phone booths, emergency charging station and beautification of the premises is an exemplary initiative which no other multinational has taken. Banglalink also contributed to an important tiger conservation project in the Sundarbans, and continues to support the Cox's bazaar beach cleaning program. Followings are the list of some Significant CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities performed by Banglalink over its life period. Followings are the list of some Significant CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities performed by Banglalink over its life period.

Banglalink special services at Haji Camp:

For several years Banglalink provides its services to Hajj pilgrims. Banglalink provides pure drinking water to hajj camp and Zia international Airport.

But later on banglalink has added some extra facilities, such as pure drinking water, necessary medicines, free phone kiosks and buses for shuttle services (airport drop service for the Hajjis).

Supplying Free Blankets in essence of “Making a Difference”

In line with the essence of "making a difference", Banglalink conducted a donation of free blankets across the needy community to help them withstand the spate of extreme cold wave that continued throughout the country.

Free Blankets were generally distributed in several orphanages in Dhaka, Bogra, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Pallabi in Mirpur Dhaka.

As children are the most vulnerable, they are the most affected also. Orphanages across the country are ill-equipped and hence children often have inadequate means to brace themselves from the cold spell. To help these underprivileged children, Banglalink took a special initiative to distribute approximately 5000 blankets in various orphanages across the country.

Arranging Iftar Party and ensuring Welfare of the childrens:

Today's children are the future of tomorrow and Banglalink truly believes in this potential. Time and again, focused attention has been given on deprived children through small initiatives that made a big difference in their lives. During last Ramadan, Banglalink conducted a number of CSR activities concentrated on helping underprivileged children, including distributing Iftar and dinner during the whole month in various orphanages.

  

Banglalink supports persons with disabilitiesAction on Disability and Development’ (ADD) held a half-day national seminar, with the support of Banglalink, on April 21 in Spectra Convention Centre, Dhaka. The seminar titled ”Capacity Building of Persons with Disabilities in Bangladesh- step towards making a difference” – discussed the scope and effort of bringing disabled people within the arena of the “opportunity society”. Social Welfare Minister MR Enamul Haq Mostafa Shahid, MP, addressed the seminar as chief guest.The seminar was Overall objective of the seminar was to create opinion to ensure enabling environment for empowerment of persons with disabilities.

The seminar focused on creating awareness to promote the rights of persons with disabilities – particularly on right to education, accessibility, health, social security, rehabilitation and employment.The seminar demonstrated empowerment of persons with disabilities through sharing experiences by the disabled employees and their employers.With the presence of distinguished representatives of different stakeholders from government, corporate, academics, NGOs and human rights activists, the seminar explored opinion on realization of the potential of persons with disabilities.Banglalink, the second leading telecommunications provider in the country, has always supported such social efforts as part of their CSR activities.

Banglalink on agri-solutions service

Mobile phone operator Banglalink launched a new service ‘Banglalink jigyasha 7676’ which provided suggestions and answers to any queries related to agriculture, vegetable and fruit farming, poultry, livestock, fisheries etc.

The service gives people with easy access to advice and solutions to agriculture-related problems. To avail the service a Banglalink customer needs to dial 7676, talk and get expert’s advice on the problem. The promotional charge for the service is Tk 2 per minute.

This helped the farmers of any remote areas of Bangladesh to get access in any advice related to their farming in a very convenient way and cheaper way.

Sponsoring the beautification programme of Rajshahi City.

Banglalink sponsored a beautification programme in Rajshahi city as a part of their CSR activities as well as with a intention with increasing the beauty of the Rajshahi city. The programme went implemented in 2007 and

the inauguration ceremony was launched by Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor along with chief officials from Banglalink.

Coastal Cleanup project of banglalink

Banglalink celebrated the 'International Coastal Clean-up Day 2009' on September 26. The event was held at Cox's Bazaar sea beach.

The International Coastal Clean-up Day gets celebrated usually on the 19th of September every year through various activities in more than 90 countries.

On that day, people from various corners come together to remove trashand debris from different beaches and waterways around the world and generate awareness about many activities that cause beach pollution.

If has been celebrated in Bangladesh for the last two years by Banglalink, through an event at Cox's Bazar beach. This is in line with Banglalink's year long beach cleaning project

On that year, Banglalink, in association with other organizers of the event, celebrated the International Coastal Clean-up Day on 26 September at Cox's Bazaar beach.

The event started off with a rally by volunteers, who then moved on to cleaning the beach, which is a major tourist attraction.

The International Coastal Clean-up Day is one of the oldest voluntary events of the world and it generates awareness worldwide.

By taking an active part in organizing the day every year, Banglalink has proved its concern about the well being of the people of the country and its environment.
