committed to helping all students gain an appreciation of the LIFETIME benefits of pursuing healthy living through activity, wellness, and social interaction.
We pledge to maintain a non-threatening environment where all students are free to challenge themselves.
We are dedicated to helping the students grow for life.
Physical Education at San Marin High School Students are required by law to take two
years of Physical Education PE Course 1
Freshmen PE Course 2
Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors Can opt out of PE 2 if you:
Pass PE 1 Pass 5 of 6 Fitness Tests
Mile, Push ups, Curl Ups, Flexibility, Trunk Lift, BMI
Other PE Options
Weightlifting Must take and pass PE1 as freshmen
Yoga Must take and pass PE1 as freshmen
Grading 75% Participation
Grading 15% Fitness
Includes all runs and other fitness related activities 1 timed run per week
10% Report Includes one report per semester
Comparing yoga to other healthy physical activities Creating a yoga fitness program to implement Goal setting
Medical Excuses Parent Notes
By state law a parent may request an excuse for up to three consecutive days. A written note from a parent or guardian must be turned into the instructor on the day of the excuse. The note is only good for that day and must be dated and signed with a phone number
Non-participants will be required to “DRESS-OUT” and observe activities along with an academic assignment.
Medical Notes After three days, a physician’s note is needed and will be honored for as long
as the doctor designates. Students will not be required to dress-out Effort points may be awarded for completing a special assignment Student may be sent to the library to work on the special assignment after
reporting to the teacher for attendance.
