Course Requirements and Course PoliciesYOU are responsible for meeting all course requirements and following all course policies.

Attendance in our online classroom environment is required for successful completion of this course. We will use Blackboard Online Learning Environment for all course activity.

Attendance in an on-line class is accomplished by visiting the class Web site, reading the materials found on the class Web site, reading E-mail received from the instructor and other class members, sending E-mail to the instructor and other class members, participating in class discussions and technology experiments, and completing and turning in assignments on time. You are expected to participate in the above activities on a regular basis, just like you would in an on campus class.

Because we do not have a set class meeting time, you are expected to check Blackboard on a daily basis if at all possible, but no less than three times a week. You are expected to ask for help from your instructor and classmates and provide help to your classmates. You are also expected to check your progress on a weekly basis, read and complete the course material, and submit the week’s assignments.

You may turn assignments in early, thus completing the course materials in less time, but you are still expected to participate with the class in technology experiments, cooperative learning activities and other discussions. Communication in an on-line class is critical for successful completion of the class.

Assignments will be graded and points posted within 3 days AFTER the Dropbox closes. Grading is not automatic; I have to review the assignments for this class as well as other classes. It does take quite a bit of time to download and review each and every student's homework files - thanks for your patience.

Academic Dishonesty: Academic dishonesty is considered a serious offense by the College. Academic dishonesty may be defined as plagiarism, copying, etc. A course grade of “F” will be given to any student found guilty of cheating. Make sure you read the College catalog for student rules and regulations.

Grading and EvaluationFinal Grades will be based on a combination of overall performance, exams, assignments, and class attendance as indicated on the class Assignment Schedule.

FSCJ Grade Policy: see Current College Catalog http://www.fscj.edu/mydegree

Grade Scale:A = 90% - 100% (1,485-1,650 points)B = 80% - 89% (1,320-1,484 points)C = 70% - 79% (1,155-1,319 points)D = 60% - 69% (990-1,154 points)F = below 59% (below 989 points) No Incomplete grade will be given.

All assignments are due by the date indicated on the class Assignment Schedule. No Late assignments or exams will be accepted. Do not ask for any additional extension of assignment deadlines.

Blackboard Using Blackboard: Because Blackboard is actually a computer program, you will need to get familiar with the Blackboard environment.

The Course Menu is located on the left-hand side of the screen. You will use these links to navigate through the course.

Navigating in Blackboard Breadcrumbs appear at the top of pages and provide links back to each previous location (like dropping ‘breadcrumbs’ along your path). Once you open a link or a page, you will use the Breadcrumbs to navigate back to the previous menu option.

The Blackboard User Manual link is located on our Course Menu. Use the User Manual to reference and refer to Blackboard Help Features.

Tutorial Videos: o Florida State College at Jacksonville's Distance Learning Tutorials

http://www.fscj.edu/tutorials/index.html o Blackboard On Demand

http://ondemand.blackboard.com/students.htm

As you explore the course features, you will also be able to access the Blackboard Help feature by selecting the Help link at the top of the Blackboard window. This feature is available at all times for you to view or print. Part of working with software applications is learning to master the use of the application's Help feature.

Your first task is to explore the Blackboard site and get familiar with its features. This is an important process so please do not skip over this material. You will be expected to know where everything is and how each of the features work.

If you do encounter technical difficulties in using Blackboard, contact FSCJ's Technical Support Team
