What is Big Local?Programme that feels and acts local at all times

Who is running Big Local?CDF and partners

BIG LOCAL

• At least £1 million available to each area to fund activities to meet the agreed community plan

• Local areas can provide a mixture of funding: grants, social investments, loans, microfinance and support

• Loans mean money can come back to Big Local and be reused in the local area again

How much money is available? How can local areas use it?

BIG LOCAL

• Community driven

• Support, challenge and encouragement for local people to take ownership of Big Local

• Unique programme of activity in each area but sharing Big Local outcomes

What will Big Local look like in local areas?

Outcome focused approach – not a one size fits all model

BIG LOCAL

How will Big Local work in each area?

Getting people involved

Exploring community visions

Creating a local partnership

Developing a community plan

Implementing the community plan

Assessing impact

Reviewing the community plan and local partnership

We will support each local area to run Big Local themselves so that it:

• Is community driven

• Responds to local needs

• Builds on local strengths

Each local area will follow a staged process in order to do this

Local solutions to local problems – all parts of the community engaged

BIG LOCAL

• A total of £30,000 for each local area

• GPI Round 1 administered by Big Lottery Fund, Round 2 administered by CDF

• GPI Round 2 will feed into initial stages of Big Local.

• Areas can apply for round 2 once round 1 funding is spent and signed off by BIG

• Big Local representatives will be allocated to local areas to support involving local people, community visioning and creating a local partnership

• Round 2 will be a rolling programme with no closing date

• Round 2 guidance notes and applications available from mid July

BIG LOCAL

Working with the Big Lottery Fund and partners to:

• establish the new organisation that will manage the Big Local Trust• run Getting People Involved Round 2• work with the first 50 local areas to start Big Local

CDF has a dedicated staff team working on this, led by Debbie Ladds and we look forward to working with people in the first 50 local areas, and others on this exciting opportunity.
