Clubs

Just a reminder that there will be no choir club for the next three weeks as Mr Wallace has prior

commitments after school on those days. Choir will resume in earnest on Thursday 22 October.

Taekwondo club will also not run next week as the instructor is competing in the world

championships. Taekwondo will resume on October 6.

Football Matches

We had our first football matches of the year

this week playing against Barrow Primary

School. There were some great performance

with a number of children playing their first

game in the famous green strip!

Bikeability

Y5 and 6 children have been doing the

bikeability course this week – a really important

life skill in order to stay safe on the roads. It

was really nice to hear the instructors

comment on what a pleasant group of children

they were to work with.

Netball Players

Netball club could really do with a few more

players from children in Years 4-6 in order to have enough to fill all the position for practise

matches. Is there any hidden talent out there who fancies going to netball club? Speak to Mr

Wallace or your class teacher if you are interested. Netball club runs on a Wednesday after

school until 4:15pm and is run by three of

our Mums.

School Website

The school website has undergone

something of a makeover. The design is

meant to be clearer and easier to navigate.

It should also work better on tablets and mobile devices.

PTA Update

The first PTA meeting of the term was held this week – many thanks to all those who attended

and it was especially nice to see some new faces. Events planned for this term include Cake and

Coffee, Film Night, and the Christmas Fair – dates for these are on the school website calendar.

We are currently also looking at cheaper alternatives to the Christmas Panto visit. New class

representatives were decided upon as follows:

Robins – Anita Hargreaves & Lois York

Wrens – Stella Farrell and Ginny Samuel

Sparrows – Michelle Adams and Louise Thompson

Goldfinches – Lisa Brocklehurst & Nia Brammer

Hummingbirds – Jo Wright & 1 other

Thanks to those parents who volunteered. The main objective for fundraising this year will be to

provide funds to develop the school playground. This will be a long term plan that will impact on

the school for many years to come.

Drum Lessons

We have some space for drum lessons on a Monday afternoon if any of the children are

interested. Realistically they need to be at least Year 2. Our drum teacher is Damien Williams, an

outstanding drummer and teacher. You can see him drumming on his website here

www.damienwilliams.co.uk Lessons are £12 for half an hour – you don’t need a drum kit! Contact

the school office if interested.

‘Golden Ticket’ - Universal Infant Free School Meal Day – Thursday 1st October

A sticker will be given to every child who has a school meal on this day, including KS2. There will

also be a ‘Golden Ticket’ attached to the underside of one of the lunchtime trays. The lucky

child that discovers the Golden ticket on their dinner tray will receive a fresh fruit basket to

take home and share with their family.
