Music Opportunities Abound at

Our Lady of the Mountains! It’s time to get involved in Our Lady of the Moun-tain’s exceptional music program! There are a variety of ways to participate and all skill levels are welcome.

Children from age 7 to 15 can join the St. Cecelia Youth Choir which meets on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. First rehearsal is September 4th.

Singers age 16 and older can join the St. Gregory the Great mixed choir which meets on Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and generally sings the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays. First rehearsal is September 6th.

Singers might also sing in one of our ensembles trained in Gregorian Chant. The St. Ambrose Young Men’s Schola and the St. Hildegard Women’s Schola meet intermittently throughout the year, a highlight being the All Souls’ Day sung Requiem Mass.

Instrumentalists can also be involved in a signifi-cant way at Our Lady of the Mountains. Several times throughout the year we have opportunities for orchestral instrumentalists to work as part of a small ensemble or as a soloist for special Masses. Please contact Bridget Scott, our Director of Liturgical Music, for an audition.

Mrs. Scott is happy to answer any questions that you may have about any of the music ensembles at OLM. If you aren’t sure about where you might fit in or if you would like to sign up to give it a try, please call Mrs. Scott at 770-380-1523.

Requiem in Pacem

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Patrick Richardson, brother of Fr. Frank Richardson, who passed away on Tuesday, August 14th in Dublin, Ireland. Cards and letters may be sent to: Fr. Frank Richardson

St. Vincent de Paul Society (Atlanta)

The Women’s Guild Annual Raffle for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home

As in years past, the Women’s Guild will be selling raffle tickets to benefit the annual fundraiser for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home in Atlanta. Established in 1939 as a non-profit home by the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, the Sisters provide excellent and loving care for patients with incurable cancer. As they accept no payment, the Home has an Auxiliary that hosts a yearly fund-raiser. We are privileged to join in their labor of love by selling raffle tickets this weekend and next weekend after, August 18th and 19th, and August 25th and 26th, before and after all Masses. This

years’ prizes are a two-night stay vacation at Great Wolf Lodge, Lagrange, GA; three pieces of jewelry from Couture Diamond; and $500 cash. Please help the Sisters to continue their works of mercy by supporting the raffle.

Women’s Guild Retreat for both Men and Women, Saturday, September 29th, Fr. Denis Hall

Join us for our spiritual day of reflection led by Dottie O'Connor, no stranger to OLM (many of you have attended her Conver-sations on Catholicism). Dottie spent 12 years as the Adult Sacramental Coordinator at the Cathedral of Christ the King and then another five years as a Pastoral Care Associate. She holds a Master’s Degree in Religious Education and has graciously offered to lead us in an afternoon of prayerful reflection on the theme, “Lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven” (Matthew 6:20). WHAT ARE YOUR TREASURES?

Our day will begin between 11:00 and 11:15 a.m. with registration. The cost is $5 and we ask that you bring your own lunch. The Guild will offer drinks at lunch, and dessert and coffee later in the day. This retreat is open to both women and men of the parish and all are welcome. There will be a signup sheet on the bulletin board in the Narthex, so that the Guild will know how many plan to attend and can prepare accordingly. Questions? Contact Kathy Crawford, [email protected], 706-268-2176. Please don’t miss this blessed opportunity to draw closer to our Lord and His ways!
