SACRED HEART PARISH IS SEEKING A DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

Sacred Heart Catholic Church has an opening for a full-time Director of Music. The successful applicant will work as a vital part of the parish staff team to bring the parish vision of ‘Inviting Everyone to Passionately Live the Gospel’ to realization, specifically through the work of sacred music. Tasks include coordinating music to enhance the liturgical services of the parish, including selecting music, playing the organ and piano for liturgies, directing choirs, coordinating cantors and accompanists, and maintaining the pipe organ and piano. A full job description can be found at sacredheartaberdeen.net/employment-opportunities. Interested candidates are asked to send a copy of their resume and an accompanying cover letter to Fr. Mark Lichter, Pastor of Sacred Heart, at [email protected], or by mail to 502 2nd Ave SE Aberdeen, SD 57401.

Greetings! By the time you read this bulletin article, we will soon be on our way with the beginning of school. This also includes the many activities in the parish. It can be a blur of activity or we can ask God to place His hand on us to direct our new beginnings with patience and at the pace of Jesus Christ. We ask for a calm heart as we start the move from the summer months to a new school year! This weekend is special for us as a parish. We will have the opportunity to welcome two of our Seminarians from the Diocese of Sioux Falls who happen to be members of Sacred Heart Parish. Zach Schaefbauer and Nate Allen join us today to thank you for your support over the years in their vocation discernment to become priests. They will be speaking at each of the Masses after communion. We will also have the opportunity to share our gifts with the parish and the diocese with a second collection that will support those that are discerning the priest-hood. Those who have been blessed (Sacred Heart Parish) are expected to give much. We have been blessed with many vocations to the priesthood and religious life from this parish and we are called to be generous as God has been generous with us. Sacred Heart Parish has provided the diocese and universal church with many voca-tions and it is our privilege to help with this formation. The second collection this weekend has the approval of Bishop Swain and will be used to help promote vocations not only in our parish but in the diocese as a whole. We presently have a Seminarian fund in the parish that is slowly dwindling and needs to be replenished. Each year Sacred Heart Parish is a major sponsor for the fishing tournaments in Big Stone and Pierre to help fund Seminarian education for the diocese. This is a very worthy endeavor that we have committed to and we want to continue our support as a parish. Please be generous and remember there are many young men and women who we help at our own parish! Have a great week! Remember: Today’s readings tell us, for those who take the Gospel seriously, misunderstanding and division must be likewise expected. Like Christ we must never grow despondent or abandon the struggle to proclaim and live the truth. God bless. Fr. Mark
