The Audiology Service provides hearing and balance care for adults and children in Bury, Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR) and Oldham. We provide care in various locations in these boroughs and also offer home visits for patients who are housebound. All our services have been accredited as ‘good’ by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

We work closely with social care and education services as well as volunteer and charity to groups to provide the best possible care.

What do we provide?

Adult Audiology Service:

• Hearing assessment and management for patients over 16 years of age

• Hearing assessment for patients with special needs

• Hearing aids incorporating the latest digital technology

• Hearing aid repair drop-ins

• Hearing and tinnitus rehabilitation

• Dizziness rehabilitation (Available in Rochdale and Bury services)

• Relaxation training therapy

Enhanced Audiology Service:

• Referral for MRI scans (Available in Rochdale services)

• Tinnitus assessment (Available in Rochdale services)

• Dizziness assessment (Available in Bury and Rochdale services)

• Suction clearance of ear wax (Available in Rochdale services)

• Earcare service (Available in Bury services)

Children’s Audiology Service:

• Hearing assessment from birth to 16 years of age

• Hearing assessment for patients with special needs

• Paediatric hearing aid fitting (Available in Rochdale and Oldham services)

• Multi-disciplinary hearing habilitation

• Consultant led medical clinics

• Hearing aid repair drop-ins

How to access the servicePatients can be referred by their GP or other professionals either via the Choose and Book Service, by post or fax. Contact details are overleaf.

GPs referring via Choose and Book should upload referrals onto the following lists for Bury, HMR and Oldham:

• Adult Audiology Hearing and Balance Service

• AQP Adult Audiology Hearing Assessment and Fitting Service

• Paediatric Audiology Hearing and Balance Service

Parents can refer their child by contacting the numbers overleaf.
