How to set up your microphone:
This tutorial explains how to configure the Realtek Audio
Manager for recording purposes.

BEFORE STUDENTS PLUG IN HEADPHONES:
Open the Realtek Audio Manager.This can be found in the Control Panel.

Choose Audio I/O tab

Click the wrench under the Analog Section

Deselect “Mute rear panel”Deselect “Enable auto popup dialog”Select “disable front panel jack det.”
This should prevent a popup box from continually ‘popping up’ on some of the students’ screens. I’ve found that on some computers, it will inevitably happen anyway. : (
You don’t HAVE to do this, but like I said, some kids will have an annoying popup that won’t go away, and you’ll have to deal with them

Now, Click “information”

Select Show icon in sys. TrayIt should be green.

Use 3D demo to test if the student can hear with their headphones

Make sure all levels are up, especially Record, Front Mic and
Mic Volume

…boost the mic

Make sure nothing is “muted”

Right click the icon in the system tray
Select the Sound Recorder
And test if they can record. If so, they’re good to go!
