ATLAS.ti 8 WINDOWS AND ATLAS.ti MAC
DATA ANALYSIS WITH ATLAS.ti IS EASIER, FASTER AND MORE COMPREHENSIVE THAN EVER BEFORE.
ATLAS.ti is the essential tool to help make sense of your research data. Highlight, annotate and code the data segments that grab your attention. Write your insights and interpretations, and visualize graphically how the puzzle pieces are coming together. Interrogate the data qualitatively and quantitatively within and across cases. And produce rich outputs that you can easily incorporate into report writing.
A unique feature of ATLAS.ti is its margin area where concepts, descriptions, interpretations and linkages are easily accessible. Through the margin area, you will always remain close to the data.
SUPPORTED DOCUMENT TYPES AND DATA IMPORT
Text, PDF, audio, video, graphic and geo-data documents can be easily analyzed with ATLAS.ti. You can also import data from reference management software such as Endnote, Zotero and Mendeley, as well as data from Twitter, Evernote and surveys in Excel format.

THE COMPONENTS OF THE ANALYSIS PROJECT
THE ATLAS.ti WORKSPACE
In ATLAS.ti, you can work one document at a time, or with multiple documents side-by-side, allowing for rich comparative analysis. The interactive margin area is the core workspace for (re)viewing, linking and editing selected data segments, codes, memos, and hyperlinks.
Work with floated or docked windows as it suits your personal preferences and analytic requirements.

WORD FREQUENCY COUNTS
With ATLAS.ti, you can produce word frequency counts within and across text documents. Get an overview of the words that study participants use and identify patterns across groups of participants. Word frequencies can be shown as an ATLAS.ti table, a word cloud, or exported to Excel.

CODING
Coding in ATLAS.ti cannot be easier: just select a data segment and drag and drop your codes onto it, or simply create a new code and attach it to your segments. All codes can be thoroughly defined, colored, grouped and linked to each other and to other components of the analysis project.
The Code Manager allows you to keep track of all your coding and data lilnkages.

WRITING
A successful analysis project requires writing. In ATLAS.ti, writing is integrated with all other components of the project. As you reflect on your data, or an insight comes to mind, you can immediately write it down and connect it to the data. No valuable thoughts will be lost.

ANALYSISATLAS.ti provides several tools that allow you to analyze your research data qualitatively and quantitatively. These are some of them:
CODE CO-OCCURRENCE TOOLS
Code co-occurrences are associations between codes. They tell us about relationships between concepts as wellas about the context. For example, you may ask: Within what context are study participants expressing satisfaction with services? or When people are expressing satisfaction with services, what else are they saying? Code co-occurrences can be explored qualitatively and quantitatively.

VISUALIZATION
In ATLAS.ti you can diagram, in the form of networks, your interpretations as well as the linkages between the different components of the analysis project. This helps you move smoothly between exploring individual details in the data to building an integrated view of the whole.
WINDOWS
Gain quick insights about where codes co-occur using the Code Cooccurence Explorer.

• Retrieve co-occurring data segments in context.
WINDOWS
ATLAS.ti provides a variety of layouts to visualize your data.
• Radial layout
• Organic layout with polyline routing
• Hierachical left to right layout with organic rerouting
QUERYING DATA
The Query Tool allows you to interrogate the data by codes and across documents using a set of query rules and operators. For example, you may ask: What barriers to access services did study participants encounter? Or, you may ask: What did the people interviewed in Sunnyside Neighborhood say about economic issues and cultural competence as barriers to access services? These and many other kinds of questions can be answered using the ATLAS.ti Query Tool.

CODE FREQUENCY COUNTS
You can create matrices showing how much has been said or written about a particular idea or topic within or across documents. This matrix can shed light on things such as what themes are more, or less, common in the data. Matrices can be exported to Excel.

NEW IN ATLAS.ti 8 WINDOWSATLAS.ti comes with several new and improved functions and procedures, some of these are the following:
Set geo tags in Open Street map, code geo snapshots and view detail by browsing to the geo location.
GEO DOCUMENTS
Geo documents now have a margin area where everything related to the documents is displayed.
• Coded geo document
• Browse location and look at different views
• Snapshot
Arrange the interface the way you like to display what you need.
• Coded video document

INTERFACE
ATLAS.ti 8 for Windows offers a flexible and dynamic layout. Now you can work with your project documents, memos, analysis tools and networks side-by-side, or one above the other. The new interface is intuitive and allows for a deeper immersion in the data.
ATLAS.ti 8 WINDOWS AND ATLAS.ti MAC COMPATIBILTY
ATLAS.ti 8 Windows and ATLAS.ti Mac are two-way compatible. For optimum cross-platform collaboration, a project can be shared back and forth between Windows and Mac computers.
SPLIT CODE FUNCTION
With the new Split Code function, you can split a single code into a set of sub-codes. This facilitates the process of building themes and categories.
