Wednesday 10th February 2016Meeting of the Hovercraft Club of Victoria at the Boxhill Community CentreMeeting opened at 2006Present were: Ron &Dianne Marshall, Col Dainty, Dave Cropley, Tony Westwood, Flemming Jensen, John Tabe, Ken Osmond, Peter Streader.December minutes accepted as printed in the Newsletter.Treasurer’s report: Total as of 31st jan tabled. 16 paid up members. $80.19 to Glenn for mowing expenses. The total for the year to date $499.00Correspondence: Peter confirmed that the 2017 National Rally will be in Queensland at lake Coomunda 8&9 July. Qld will have their state rally there this year as a trial run.General Business: The meeting room hire is now $858.00 for 11 months. This seems very high. Ken made the original agreement. He will contact the centre management to try to negotiate a new deal. Ron; The inspected the new site. Glenn has received a key to the site and has started the task of reducing the blackberries and mowing the grass.The new site was discussed at length. Ron will accompany Glenn to the next council meeting.Col; Found part of the Mayor of Dubbo’s Australia day speech to the rate-payers particularly noteworthy;" always help our mates”, especially as his clubmates had just spent many hours towing him down the river. Tony: Paul Westeinde was to relocate the club craft. His shed is not yet ready. MARCH FLY DAY AND AGM Sunday 13th March
o March Fly Day falls on the Labour Day weekend and will also be held at Lake Narracan home site. Sunday will be the main fly day, however all members are encouraged to make a weekend of it and come along and camp and stay over on either the Saturday night Sunday night or both. We will incorporate the AGM at this Fly Day. Meeting will begin at 1:00 pm on Sunday 13th March at the container. Remember that in order to vote you need to be financial. So far only 13members are paid up. Please ensure you pay your $60 dues ASAP. All office bearing positions will be made vacant so please consider nominating yourself for one of the following positions so that you can have a say in the running of your club:

Turning up at our site around 11am. I was greeted by Glenn, Peter Shinnand Ron, who had arrived earlier. Helps, when you only live a short distance from the lake. The ground was as always in pristine condition , and I soon had the hover on the ground ready for some testing to see if I had fixed the over heating problem. A quick trip around the lake and all seemed ok. By then it was time for lunch and by now Colin, Peter Streader and Paul Westinde had turned up, all with craft, so 7 hovers were on site. We also had a visit from a potential new member who had been in contact with Tony W and arrived to get a closer look at the action. Paul W offered the guy a flight and soon disappeared up the river, but did not return so Glenn set out and discovered them stranded with fuel problems. The visitor was transferred to Glenn's craft and Paulmanaged to coach the blue turbo back under own power, so thankfully no river towing at this rally.Col discovered that his newly repaired starter was not very repaired as itrefused to start his engine, so Whitefly stayed on the trailer.I took Hv72 out for another trial run and on return discovered some more green water from the cooling system, so back to the drawing board.Thankfully Ron, Glenn, Peter Streader, and Peter Shinn had a trouble free day so our visitor at least could get the impression that hovers can operate without breaking down. He did however inform us that he had visited the Qld club at a rally and it appeared that the same thing was going on at their rally and concluded that hovercraft were high maintenance units. The day finished up around 5.30 and all up was a good day, bar the rather stiff wind we endured most of the day.

From the other side of the world
Experience days of fun and varied Cruising exploring the River Thames and the Medway Estuary
From 16th-24th July, Cruising enthusiasts can join in exploring the historic sites of the Medway Estuary, ending with a Thames Cruise in Central London, probably on the weekend of 23rd-24th July. We will have a cruising base with direct access to sheltered tidal waters plus facilities for camping, caravans, nearby hotels etc., and easy to access by road and rail, so families can go off on tourist trips to London etc.. During the World Championship Racing Events there may also be a small area of the lake set aside for Cruisers to enjoy.
Experience exciting, fastand thrilling Racing in the World Hovercraft Championships 2016
The World Championship Racing Event will be held atthe Tamworth Water Ski Centre in Warwickshire, England (B78 2DL) during 25th-31st July 2016. The
HCGB intend to run the full agenda of racing including Endurance Racing.
We invite drivers from all over the world to compete in this exciting 5 day multi-formula racing event.
We have already run a successful HCGB national race meeting on this site and preparations are now taking place to expand the onsite facilities, operational area and race course, to suit a World Event attendance.
There will be camping facilities onsite and we will publish details of other accommodation shortly.
