Gracefully bisecting the cockpit is an elegant centrestack. Distinctive and functional, featuring a largepop-up display screen along with controls for thetransmission, climate control and infotainment systems,this intuitive interface is the nerve centre of Vanquish.Some elements, such as the docking station for theECU (Emotional Control Unit) glass starter moduleand glass PRND gear selection buttons, are familiarAston Martin features. However for Vanquish, theseelements are incorporated into a new and uniquealuminium facia panel with cutting-edge technology,which provides a supreme sense of quality.

AMi (Aston Martin infotainment) and the climatecontrol systems are manipulated using new touch-sensitive switches. Taking inspiration from the latestsmartphones and tablet devices, these capacitiveswitches emit haptic feedback by delivering a subtlevibration to provide sensory conrmation that thesystem recognises your instruction. These hapticswitches are supplemented by a new joystick, whichnow includes rotary control as well as up/down/left/right, ensuring precise control and easy input ofinstructions to AMi. All the infotainment and vehiclesystems are integrated, with information viewed ona single and retractable 6.5 LCD screen embeddedinto the centre stack. The systems rich graphics andsmooth animation make it a pleasure to view and use.

Due to the dynamic nature of in-car entertainment,sound replication is maintained in all driving conditionsthrough imperceptible equalisation adjustmentsdetermined by algorithms that utilise multiple vehiclesensors, including an in-car microphone. At its mostextreme, adjustments of up to 20 db in base volumeare made to compensate for cabin noise at high speedsor on harsh surfaces. This ensures that the systemreplicates the original recording accurately andconveys the emotion of the music.

Route guidance comes courtesy of the latest GarminSatellite Navigation technology*, while Bluetooth audioand phone streaming allows your portable devicesto be controlled through the infotainment system.In addition to standard front and rear parking sensors,Vanquish can be tted with a reversing camera as an

This layeris more than simply aesthetic as the Rkona materialfrom which it is crafted has anti-odour properties andis highly resistant to staining. As a result,some 75% of the car is all-new.At its core is the latest iteration ofour acclaimed bonded aluminiumVH architecture. Optimised Mass Distribution

Mass has been lowered andcentralised within the wheelbaseto improve vehicle dynamics;to this end the engine has beenmounted 19 mm lower in the chassis.

The use of Carbon-Fibre in theboot area structure and the 10 kgweight reduction of the exhaustmufer have minimised mass behindthe rear axle thereby enhancinghandling and agility.

Beneath Vanquishs muscular skin is a super-strong,super-stiff skeleton of bonded aluminium. This structure known as the VH architecture has been subjectto a comprehensive programme of re-engineeringto achieve new levels of performance, renement,responsiveness and safety. The primary objective hasbeen to increase the torsional stiffness of the VH bodystructure, as improvements here yield tangible gainsin ride, handling, renement and safety. By examiningand evolving every component and introducingCarbon-Fibre into the structure itself, our engineers

have simultaneously achieved an increase in torsionalstiffness, a reduction in weight and a lowered centre ofgravity, transforming the architectures inherent dynamicqualities. The Vanquish has 25% greater torsionalstiffness than the DBS, while the Volante achievesa 14% uplift.

The Vanquish ranges inherent balance, poise andpredictability allow you to always feel in calm control.However, thanks to a suite of passive and active safetysystems it is also designed to aid you in avoiding an

incident during emergency situations. SophisticatedABS, traction and dynamic s tability control systemsprovide an active electronic safety net should drivingconditions or circumstance mean control of the caris compromised. At its heart, the Vanquish range features a virtuallyall-new version of the formidable Aston Martin 6.0-LitreV12 engine. Adopting technology rst applied in theOne-77 supercars incredible 7.3-Litre V12, the newVanquish 6.0-Litre produces more power and torquethan its previous incarnations whilst improving fueleconomy and reducing emissions. All the major enginecomponents are new, including cylinder block andcylinder heads, crankshaft, camshafts, pistons, valves,valve springs, inlet manifolds and throttle bodies.Dual variable valve timing and knock sensing havealso been introduced; the latter continually adjuststhe combustion process to extract as much energyfrom the fuel as possible to ensure the Vanquish isperfectly in tune with the times.

If the Vanquish Volante is the culmination of 100 yearsof passion and accrued engineering skill then it is littlewonder that it is a car of rare harmony. While agility,response and balance are all key contributors, theVanquish Volante also delivers cosseting renementand supple ride quality.

The foundation of this nely judged balance is the latestversion of Aston Martins VH bonded aluminiumarchitecture, which provides a super-stiff platformto allow the suspension and steering components towork at optimum efciency. Equipped with such anoutstanding s tructure, Aston Martins chassis engineerswere able to examine and modify everything fromcontrol arms and knuckles to springs and dampersin order to radically improve the driving experience.

The result is a car of many moods but one that is

always deliciously poised and polished. Our AdaptiveDamping System (ADS) offers three modes: Normal,Sport and Track. Normal mode is tuned to be the mostsupple, automatically adjusting the level of dampingaccording to your driving style, speed and road surfacequality. Sport mode brings a feeling of tighter control,with sharper responses. Track mode switches thedampers to their rmest settings for maximum bodycontrol and agility. The Volante has unique suspensiontuning to ensure it is as agile and engaging as thecoupe in all but the most extreme circumstances.

The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is fullyintegrated with the ADS suspension and similarlyversatile. Normal, Sport and Track modes allow theVanquishs handling envelope to be tuned to the roador circuit that it is tackling and the skill and appetiteof the driver. Whichever mode you choose the carsnear-perfect weight distribution and progressive,intuitive balance combine to deliver the consummateSuper GT driving experience.

Working closely with partners such as Pirelli andBrembo, Vanquishs highly evolved chassis conceptand execution is matched by world-class and bespokecomponents. Unique 20-inch Pirelli P Zero tyres weredeveloped to blend response with progressiveness withincredible subtlety. Similarly the 3rd Generation BremboCarbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) disc brakes measuring398 x 36 mm at the front and 360 x 32 mm at the rear are phenomenally powerful, offer huge weight savingbenets over traditional steel brakes and are quiet andeffective even at low temperatures. Never has a carof such performance been so intuitive and controllablein such a wide range of disciplines.

Like every car designed and built at Gaydon,Vanquish has been subjected to a gruellingtest and development programme. Conductedby a dedicated team of Aston Martin engineersand technicians, this exhaustive regime isdesigned to ensure the highest levels ofperformance, reliability and resilience,often in the most extreme driving conditions.One of the most painstaking phases is coldweather testing in Arvidsjaur, northernSweden, where the traction and stabilitycontrol systems are tuned. Formidableweapons in Vanquishs armoury of activesafety systems, these sophisticated electronicsafeguards are programmed and rened at

a special test facility on a frozen lake, thenveried in real life conditions on the openroad. The same tests are then conducted inhigh-grip conditions at test tracks in southernEurope. As a result the systems are so nelytuned they can operate with incredibleeffectiveness and subtlety in all weatherconditions.

Other key development phases include5,000 km of durability and high speed testingat the Nardo Ring in the southern tip of Italy,and 10,000 km of intensive limit handlingtesting at the Nrburgring Nordschleifein Germany. With a 21 km (13 mile) lapcomprising 73 corners and extreme changesof gradient, the Ring is regarded as the mostdemanding race circuit in the world. Evidenceof Aston Martins commitment to durabilitytesting can be found in the purpose-built testcentre located just a stones throw from theNrburgrings gates. Proof of its value canbe found in the 100% nishing record andnumerous class wins Aston Martins road-legal

prototypes have achieved in the Nrburgring24-hour race since rst entering this gruellingendurance race in 2006.
