A hangover from the economic crisis.

but there are green shoots of recovery..

2010 saw an increase in perhead training spend of 2%

    (US) still well behind 2007levels

Blended learning initiativesand coaching are main

beneficiaries of training spend(2010 and into 2011)

Sources: Bersin industry report 2010, Cegos management report 2010, Cegos learning survey 2011

Technology enabled L&D continuesto increase, but uptake is notconsistent across companies, geographies or generations

10% increase in spend onlearning tools and

    technologies in US (Bersin,2010 review)

Increase in sourcing of fullservice provision LearningPlatforms / Learning Centers

New generation of learners (Gen Y) demand moreface-to-face development than their counterparts

    E-learning use decreases with age

Blended learning is equally well received among all learnersregardless of age it is a personalised blend that is the mostimportant need

Majority of the surveyed population were infavour of and enjoyed on-the-job coaching

NOW is the time for Learning Professionals tocollaborate, advise and manage the mostappropriate mix for their LearningPopulations.

Employees turn to their manager for information about training but to expertcoaches/tutors for the training itself

Do managers need more training? Is L&D being bypassed? What can L&D doto gain greater visibility?

There are key differences in attitudes towards training between the trainedand the untrained and the different generations in the workforce

Collaborate across generations, cultures, borders > personalise with controls

Become more inclusive post economic crisis > seize the potential

The future is becoming clearer....and simpler in some ways.....

Rapid uptake of smart-phone and tablet computing is driving mobile learningand serious games which are set to have a major impact in the short term (seeCegos White Paper)

Not a fad, not a replacement, but contributors to a complete learning provision

portfolio in line with the needs and wants of the Learning population
