Analyze Learners
7th graders- approximately 11-13 years old
11 boys, 9 girls
75% white, 15% African-American, 10% Hispanic
3 students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
General Education
Some students are auditory learners
Can use technology and have Twitter and Facebook accounts
Have knowledge of basic math skill- fractions, multiplication, division, long division, etc.
State Objective
The seventh grade students will solve basic algebraic equations without a calculator, but with the assistance of the curriculum bot. The worksheet provided will be completed with 100% accuracy by the beginning of the third day.
Select Materials
Smartboard
Curriculum-bot with Steps to Solve an Algebraic equation.
Worksheet from Day 1
Worksheet for Day 2
Utilize Materials
Make sure Smartboard is working correctly for demonstrations and notes
Make sure Curriculum-bot is functioning correctly and that the steps are correct and in order.
Make sure students have finished worksheets from the day before and have correct answers.
Make sure enough Day 2 worksheets are printed off for entire class.
Require Learner Participation
Students should take notes during instruction.
Once given the worksheet, students are encouraged to interact with Curriculum-bot to walk them through solving an equation.
Students will have access to worksheets on Facebook.
Students are encouraged to interact with one another on Facebook, Twitter, and in class if they are struggling with the homework.
There is a video of the Curriculum-bot on Facebook if the students need help at home.
Evaluate and Revise
Did the robot seem to help the learning process or was it a distraction?
Did the students interact with one another for help or copy off of each other?
Are the students interacting with one another online for the purpose of learning the material?
Are the videos and information on Facebook relevant and helpful to the current curriculum?
