Hello and thank you for your interest in Adventure Outings!

Adventure Outings (AO) offers the Chico State community a wide variety of services.

Each semester AO leads a variety of adventure trips including rafting, kayaking,

backpacking, climbing, caving, mountain biking and more. We also provide custom trips

for groups and clubs, host emergency medicine classes, operate an equipment rental

center and operate the WREC indoor climbing wall.

As one of the leading student-run outdoor programs in the nation we are always looking

for quality people to join our staff. Since its inception, AO has been funded by the

Associated Students of CSUC, and continues to be an integral partner in the education

of Chico State students. Our goal is to provide professionally organized adventure-

based trips to the students and community of Chico State.

This application is the first step to work for Adventure Outings so please take it

seriously. Becoming an Assistant Leaders is a volunteer position, designed to train

staff in outdoor education and programming, increase the technical skills necessary to

lead trips, and to learn about AO policies and procedures. After obtaining the

appropriate experience, Assistant Leaders are promoted to Trip Leader status and paid

on a per-trip basis. In most cases Assistant Leaders are advanced to Trip Leaders after

working for 2-3 semesters.

If you are interested in joining the AO team, fill out the following two pages. Please

include a typed cover letter and resume and return it to the AO office. Incomplete

applications will not be considered. A committee of AO Trip Leaders will conduct

interviews in mid October. If you have further questions about the application process,

please come by our front desk. Thank you for your time, and happy adventures!

Yours in adventure,

Keith Crawford Adventure Outings Assistant Coordinator
