Accountability: Includes STAAR results for students enrolled on Snapshot day in October 2014 and tested on the same campus and

within the same district – called the “accountability subset.”

STAAR: Includes results for students who tested on a campus and within the district regardless of when they entered/enrolled.

• With the exception of Index 1, accountability scores focus on various factors and not only percentage of students passing the STAAR.

Four Performance Indexes

Each of the four indexes has a score of 0-100.New for 2015: A campus or district must meet the target in Index 1 or 2 and index 3 and 4.

Total tests meeting passing standard out of total tests administered.

Total index points are determined by:Number of assessments meeting passing standard divided by number of assessments given

Combined: across all subjects: reading, writing, math

(2015: Alg. I only), science and social studies all students in grades 3-8 & HS End-of-Course*STAAR A & STAAR ALT2 scores not included for 2015-16

Weighted scores are calculated on performance: 1 point for each student that Met and Exceeded Progress plus1 additional point for each student that Exceeded Progress--- STAAR progress measure and ELL progress measure across all subjectsProgress is based on difference between current grade level and previous grade level scores. General example: Current year scale score on test subtract the prior year scale score equals gain score.

Ex: Gr 4 Reading (English) – Gr 3 Reading (English)1486 - 1331= 155 gain score

* Student “ met progress” but did not exceed progress

Target:20

Index 2: Student ProgressProgress is defined on a state established scale measuring growth in

score from year to year

Index 4: Postsecondary ReadinessCollege and Career Ready - HS: STAAR Final Recommended level, Grad

Rate – 4 or 5 yr., Grad Plan – RHSP/DAP, Postsecondary Component: CCR

Elementary & Middle: STAAR Postsecondary Readiness Only

Due to variance in indicators between grades 3-8 and high school, target scores for this index also vary due to level:

Elementary Target Score: 12Middle School Target Score: 13

High School Target Score: 57 Additional components of this index for High Schools are included in the chart below and encompass four equally weighted areas.

Only applicable component for elementary and middle school

1. Top 25% Student Progress (Index 2 Score)

2. Top 25% Closing Achievement Gaps (Index 3 Score)

3. Academic Achievement: Reading/ELA

Two separate system safeguard reports are provided to school districts for the 2015 accountability reports:1. State system safeguards aligned with the 2015 state accountability Index 1 results--- does not include Math gr. 3-8 and STAAR A and STAAR Alternate 2 results

2. Federal system safeguards aligned with 2015 federal accountability requirements--- includes math for gr. 3-8 and STAAR A and STAAR Alternate 2 results (released in late fall 2015)

calculated from same results in Index 1. Each subject and student group meeting the minimum size criteria (25) is addressed.

based on all students enrolled at time of testing and total number of answer documents submitted. Documents coded as “absent or other” are not counted as participants.--- math will only be based on STAAR EOC Alg. I tests

Failure to meet a safeguard target = must be addressed in the campus/district improvement plan
