GROUP ASSIGNMENT (5%)
[28 MARKS]
Environmental pollution is one of the biggest problems the world faces today. It is an issue that
troubles us economically, physically and everyday of our lives. The contamination of the
environment is also being linked to some of the diseases that are around currently. Yet, most
people do not know about this problem. This shows that environmental pollution is becoming an
increasingly worse problem that needs to be taken care of as soon as possible, not only for the
good of the environment but also for the people that live in it.
Task:
In a group, select a city/country that is suffering from any of the pollutions below and prepare a
report/write up addressing the criteria given.
Water pollution; or
Noise pollution; or
Solid waste pollution; or
Hazardous waste pollution.
In your report, the following criteria are to be included:
1) Major causes of the pollution.
2) Effects of the pollution towards human/ ecosystems/ economics etc.
3) Measures/ methods taken by the government/ citizens to control the pollution or reduce
the impacts of the pollution.
4) If you are the prime minister of the country or the person-in-charge of the city council, do
you satisfied with the current control or preventive measures taken? If yes, please provide
the justification. If no, how would you suggest to solve the pollution issue (in your own
point of view).
Standard format for assignment: Times New Roman/Arial, font size of 12, 1.5 line spacing,
one-inch margins, 10-15 pages. Figure and Table should be clearly numbered and caption
should be provided (e.g. Figure 1: Interaction effect of temperature and pressure). Hand written
assignment is not accepted.

You may submit your report during the lecture session on 24th
March 2015.

2. Contribution of team members. The activities carried out by each team member should be
clearly specified.

6. Discussion (free style addressing all the criteria listed in Page 1)

Additional Notes
1. Late submission will be subjected to 10 % reduction for each day and the report will not be
accepted after 3 days from the due date of submission.
2. Reports will be graded based on its main idea, organization, analysis & critical thinking and
language use.
3. Plagiarism is intolerable and your original works are highly appreciated.
