ASPE - Richmond Chapter Newsletter - January / February 2014 - 1 - PRESIDENTS MESSAGE I just want to ask one question. WHEN WILL SPRING REALLY BE HERE? I'm over all this snow and cold weather. For those of you that came to last month's meeting, I want to apologize for all the confusion. The hotel had double booked our space . We at that point used the area outside of the conference room (which was really tight for over 30 people). To top it all off, when I returned with the food, they were putting another groups food where we were occupied. They had to pack up the food so that we could put our food down. Anyhow, we managed to pull it off without me losing too much hair or turning more grayer. Last month we also awarded the Richard L. Clark Mentoring Award to Glenn Rose. Josh Landis from Hankins and Anderson nominated Glenn for this award. What was special about this award was that H&A's whole plumbing department was there to be part of presenting him the award. Please read Josh's letter to nomination letter for Glenn on page 2 of this newsletter. We are down to the last few classes for the Plumbing Design Review (CPD Prep). I want to thank all the instructors for their support in making this class a success. As stated last month, please see on page 7 for VA Code Official VPMIA Joint Conference application form . The conference will be held on April 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at the Holiday Inn Richmond Airport. Please see the attached form for more information on the type of classes, schedules and dates. Our March meeting will be a joint meeting with SFPE. We will be hosting this
meeting so the location will be the same. Our Speaker will be Bryan Berkley,
of the Viking Corp. and his topic is Storage Sprinklers. Please make sure you
make it out to the meeting.
Please note next month we will be voting for our new board. So if you're
interested in holding a position on the Board please contact any of the Board
that are listed.

Mentorship Award Nomination for Glenn E. Rose:
For the past 7+ years I've had the privilege of working with Glenn. New
to the industry, Glenn was one of the first people I met. While in the
beginning I found him to be a man of few words, his knowledge and
guidance spoke volumes. The knowledge and wisdom he has imparted
on me has been a great help throughout my career. I truly believe my
success is in part due to his support and mentorship. He has been an
excellent friend and teacher to many, including myself.
While I can't be there for the presentation of this award, I can only hope
to convey the value and true appreciation for everything I have learned
from Glenn. It will forever remain a major contributor behind my
success and achievements. I am pleased to be able to continue working
with Glenn and I look forward to the day that I may do the same for
someone else, that he has done for so many.
