Introduction and Program Overview

ETSU is eager to help all our students, undergraduate and graduate, achieve their educational goals. Often, however, students don’t know where to turn when they have questions or problems related to being in college. The purpose of the ASK ME Program is to make it easier for students to share their questions with ETSU’s faculty and staff, so we can connect them with the help they need.

As an ASK ME volunteer, your job is simple, but vitally important—to listen to our students’ questions and help them get answers. Your ASK ME sign means all students and all questions are welcome. You don’t have to know the answer to every question, and you shouldn’t try to answer questions academic advisors should handle. Your job is to provide a ready point of contact for our students and refer them to offices and individuals who can help.

This resource manual was specially designed for ASK ME volunteers. It lists topics students may ask about and contact information for ETSU offices and personnel. Please make a phone call or send an e-mail while the student is still in your office and offer to check back to see how everything worked out if he or she gives you an e-mail address.

Thank you for reaching out to our students and for everything you do to help them stay in college, succeed in college, and graduate.
