Course Outline AS Examination Unit 1 – PHYA1 Particles, quantum phenomena and

electricity (Dr. Poulton) Unit 2 – PHYA2 Mechanics, materials and waves (Mr.

Kendrick) Each is:- Written Examination (27th May 2010) – (70 marks/120 UMS), 6

or 7 structured questions 1¼ hours, 40% of the total AS marks

Unit 3 Investigative and practical skills in AS Physics PHA3X, Externally Marked Route X – 55 marks Practical Skills Verification (PSV – teacher verification) Externally Marked Practical Assignment (EMPA – 55 raw

marks) (After 1st March) 20% of the total AS marks
