What is Art Barter? Art Barter enables artists to exchange their work freely with the public for goods,

services or trades that are offered to them within an exhibition style event. Money is the only invalid offer.

Since the London launch in Nov 2009, Art Barter has travelled to other art capitals of the

world including Berlin and New York with their concept. Each exhibition includes between 25-50 artists living and working in the city at the time ranging from internationally

established to unknown art students.

During the events, the public do not know whose piece of work belongs to which artist, this is only revealed afterwards on the website along with a list of all offers made. Giving each

artwork just a number instead of naming its price, title or creator encourages the public

to value the work on its merit alone.

Mini Barter

Art Barter produced a "Mini Barter" event to coincide with Frieze Art Fair in London 2010. The event included 10 artworks, mainly print editions from a selection of artists from the previous Berlin and London shows including Mat Collishaw, Boo Saville and Tim Noble & Sue Webster.

Collaboration with Art Below

Berlin saw a collaboration with Art Below. For the two weeks leading up to and during the event, 20ft high pillars in Berlin's city centre were plastered with images of a selection of the featured artwork in the Berlin Art Barter exhibition.
