FAQs

1. What is AribaPay? Built on the foundation of the Ariba Network and harnessing the global reach and security of the Discover Network, AribaPay™ delivers a trusted, integrated, end-to-end solution that transforms the “pay” in procure-to-pay, giving companies and their suppliers complete control over their B2B payments with more confidence, more efficiency and more visibility.

2. Is AribaPay a credit card product? No. AribaPay is not a commercial card, p-card, buyer-initiated card, or any other version of card product. No card agreement is required to accept AribaPay payments. Our financial partners role of this arrangement is delivering a secure and trusted payments infrastructure to facilitate transactions.

3. How is AribaPay different from or better than ACH? AribaPay provides superior benefits over ACH alone. The biggest advantage is in how AribaPay integrates the pre-existing procure-to-pay cycle to tie in critical remittance information into a streamlined payment event. Unlike traditional ACH remittance information such as CTX or CCD, the ‘rich’ remittance data available for suppliers will include header-level and line-item level visibility to previously mediated Ariba Network invoices and even purchase orders. There are other aspects of AribaPay that make it better than ACH alone. AribaPay eliminates the need for buyers and sellers to send, maintain, or update bank account information with multiple trading partners. This results in less time inputting, managing, or updating bank account information – and less opportunity for error or fraud. AribaPay will also allow on-demand payment track-and-trace capability—permitting for the first time a bird’s-eye view on where payments are at any time in the settlement process—something that ACH cannot provide today.

This includes visibility into scheduled payment timing; track-and-trace capabilities to see where the payment is in the system after it has been initiated; and rich remittance eliminating guesswork in reconciling payments. With the ability to know in advance when a payment is scheduled by your customer, track-and-trace visibility into the payment once executed, and the rich remittance necessary to identify and resolve exceptions faster, you can expect better cash flow forecasting ability and fewer errors with the accounting transactions. FAQs

6. What is “rich remittance” and how will it help my reconciliation of payments received?

A major problem with B2B payments as they exist today is that much of the remittance info associated with payments is either disconnected, expensive to receive, difficult to consume, or incomplete due to the limitations of the format (e.g. 94 characters per line NACHA format). These factors contribute to making many payments either expensive, difficult, or simply impossible to

reconcile without manual follow-up and even write-offs. However, with AribaPay all of the historical information associated with the payment will be made available to and consumable by the receiver of that payment. With full invoice information, along with the PO and contract information associated with the payment (when present) available on the Ariba Network, suppliers will have access to all the payment information they need to automatically and easily reconcile and apply funds.

7. Do I need to accept Discover cards in order to get paid through AribaPay?

No, AribaPay is not a card product, so a supplier does not need to accept Discover cards to get paid through AribaPay.
