ARKANSAS FOREIGN-OWNED INDUSTRIES & GROWTH POTENTIAL

• More 50% of the jobs created by foreign-owned entities are in manufacturing including:

- industrial machinery- food and kindred products- primary and fabricated metals- transportation equipment- forest products

• In a recent interview (May 2017) Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) stated that in the past five years, Arkansas’ FDI employment growth was 41.5%, double the national average. *

• The commission also highlighted a large foreign investment a Chinese company, Shandong Ruyi Technology Group that is investing $410 million in a textile mill in Forrest City, AR. It will employ 800 people and use 200,000 tons of Arkansas-grown cotton annually – the state’s entire crop.

• Walmart Headquarters is located in Northwest Arkansas (Bentonville)

• Walmart is the world’s largest retailer. Its operations span 27 countries—including the US.

• The retailer has more stores overseas than it does in the US.

• The company reported 6,189 stores in its International segment—compared to 4,987 in the US in 3Q15.

• The United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and China are the five largest markets for the retailer.

• Tyson Headquarters is located in Northwest Arkansas (Springdale)

• The company is the world's second largest processor and marketer of chicken, beef, and pork and annually exports the largest percentage of beef out of the United States.

• Tyson has subsidiary poultry production operations in China, India, Mexico & Brazil

• J.B. Hunt Headquarters is located in Northwest Arkansas (Lowell)

• J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., one of the largest transportation logistics companies in North America, provides safe and reliable transportation services to a diverse group of customers throughout the continental United States, Canada and Mexico

• While most of its operation are based in the U.S. it does have a subsidiary in Mexico known as Hunt Mexicana
