CFA NEWS
CFA trip to Europe – summer of 2017 – Interest Meeting
on April 26 @ 6:30 p.m.!! Students and parents – we hope you know that the CFA is committed to providing travel opportunities to enhance the students’ arts education outside the classroom. We organize trips to the Regional/National Dance Festival every year for our Dance students, and every year we take students to New York City (although we alternate the trips every year between the Visual Art and the Theatre/Musical Theatre curriculums.) Every four years, however, we organize a trip to Europe during the summer that is open to ANY CFA student in ANY CFA curriculum area. We are excited to announce that we are currently in the planning stages for our summer 2017 trip to Spain! The Europe trips are not inexpensive, but they are a worthwhile and unique experience. And – you will get to travel to Spain with Dr. Poxon, Mr. Ritter and Mr. Dye! It will be a FABULOUS TRIP! A few questions that folks have asked about the Spain trip:
Question: Can seniors who graduate in June 2017 go on the trip? Answer: ABSOLUTELY!
Question: Can new students joining the program in the fall of 2016 go on the trip? Answer: ABSOLUTELY!
Question: Can parents go on the trip? Answer: ABSOLUTLEY!
Question: Is there a monthly payment plan? Answer: YES! And – there is a payment option that allows you to keep paying for the trip AFTER you return (so – you don’t necessarily have to pay everything in advance.)
Question: Can incoming/new CFA students go on the trip? Answer: ABSOLUTELY! Please join us at the interest meeting on April 26 to learn more!!
Please plan to join us to learn more about our Spain 2017 trip on TUESDAY, APRIL 26 @ 6:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre!!

AM-PM-Transition-SUPERVISION:
This is a reminder that during transition ALL staff should be at their doors supervising the walkways. As we prepare
for our safety audit this month, and with the new buildings opening (yeah!), we need to be consistent and follow this
protocol with fidelity. The rule of thumb is “One foot in, one foot out” of your classroom. This way you can monitor
what is going on inside of class and also see what is going on outside. If you are transitioning to your planning period,
you do not have to stand at your door, but please support all staff by monitoring the campus as you travel to prepare for
your next classes. We also need everyone on campus before 8:30am to be at your door by 8:35am. I will be sending
reminders to individual staff this week. Thanks!
Meetings this Month: April 20th-Center Meetings IB 1:00-2:00 & CFA 1:30-3:00
April 20th- FACULTY MEETING 3:15-4:15
April 27th- SOL Testing Meeting (All Staff Must Attend) Auditorium
Please support your Warriors:
“As you are aware, last year Henrico High School presented fourteen $250 scholarships to well deserving college
bound seniors. This year, we would like to provide twenty eight $500 scholarships. The name of our scholarship is
“Building the Dream – In Memory of Mr. Sheridan DeShawn Fuller”. Our team has been raising funds through
community donations and doughnut sales. Currently we are running a “Change for Change” fundraiser which collects
loose change donations. If the “Change for Change” fundraiser raises $250 then our wonderful math teacher Mr.
Givens will sing a song on the morning announcements. If we raise $500, then our Physics teacher Mr. Parvaiz will
get a Mohawk. And if we raise $750 then I will also get a Mohawk. So please send your loose change donations
through your son or daughter. The donations can be submitted to Mr. Parvaiz in Building 90, classroom 98. Thank
you for helping us build the Warrior Dream one brick at a time.” See attached docs for Golf outing!!!
Timeliness:
During the next month, we will be addressing tardies to school with groups of about 50 students each week. We hope
this helps eliminate some of the tardies 1st and 2nd period teachers experience. Students will be called in as a group to
explain the policy and the consequence. They will have the option of attending the upcoming Saturday
tutoring/detention OR having in school suspension. We hope that they choose Saturday tutoring and that this helps
with your numbers as well Please help us when we call for these students by sending them immediately.
