Our demo artist for the April 10 th meeting is Katia Irie. She studied at the Academy of Art & Design in St. Petersburg, Russia before moving to Minnesota in 1994. She is a prolific watercolorist and has won several awards for her colorful, detailed style. Book illustration and teaching classes are some additional projects she has tackled. Our April meeting will be held in Studio B this time. Depending on the schedule and better lighting in that room we may be doing more meetings there. My energy is back after recovering from a nasty cold. Thanks to the rest of the board for your efforts in my absence. I hope you all learned a lot from Bonnie Cutts at the March meeting. We recently hung up some really nice watercolors at Good Shepherd Community. We had at least 40 pieces with flowers and wildlife subjects in addition to landscapes. It is a very good setting with plenty of light. In addition we received about 90 paintings, uploaded by Mary Buhl, for the jurying process at the East Bank Gallery in Sioux Falls. We should know soon which have been chosen for the show. They will pick several “back-ups” for paintings that are sold too. This will not be an easy task. We will be accepting paintings at St. Cloud hospital May 1 st , details shortly. A little member news: A great Plein Air painting opportunity with Dan Mondloch. He is offering a workshop June 6, 7, and 8 th with free demo the evening before it starts. Details on the Paramount web site. Congrats to Judith Hallbeck Meyeraan. Her watercolor “Chains” was accepted in the Minnesota Watercolor Society Spring Juried show.
