The Li- brary Board has been planning an addition for several years, but has not been able to put a bond issue on the ballot due to economic conditions. Therefore, it has become imperative that aging fixtures, carpet and paint be replaced or refurbished, as well as more space made available to the public. This project is being funded by grants from the Champlin Foundations ($63,765) and the Town of Smithfield ($35,000), as well as Green- ville Public Library savings ($11,235). The renovation will reduce staff work areas in order to increase public service spaces within the confines of the current facility. During the week we are closed you will be able to return materials through the book-drop or at any public library in Rhode Island. Items being held at the Library for you will not be available until we reopen, therefore it is imperative that you pick up reserved items before we close or have us route them to another library. We look forward to reopening and hope you will appreciate the new areas. There will be more book and DVD browsing shelves and three checkout stations that will allow for self-checkout as well as staff-assisted checkouts, whichever you prefer. There will be a self-service fax machine and two copiers, one color and one black and white. Of course, Library staff will be available to do your faxing and copying if you prefer. There will be five quiet study cubicles,15 public computers and 10 laptops available to you. All the same services you currently enjoy will be offered to you in a newly remodeled space.

LeapPad E-Reader for Kids

Thanks to a very generous donation from Rosemary Rose in memory of her mother, Rosemary Pimental, the library now has e-readers for children to borrow. Parents who may be interested in purchasing one of these for their child may want to borrow ours first to see how it works and how their child interacts with the reader.
