Entrance Antiphon Resurrexi, et adhuc tecum sum, alleluia: posuisti super me manum tuam, allelu-ia: mirabilis facta est scientia tua, alleluia, alleluia. I have risen, and I am with you still, alleluia. You have laid your hand upon me, alleluia. Too wonderful for me this knowledge, alleluia, alleluia. Vidi aquam egredientem de templo, a latere dextro, alleluia: et omnes, ad quos pervenit aqua ista, salvi facti sunt, et dicent, alleluia, alleluia. Ps. Confitemini Domino quoniam bonus: quoniam in saeculum misericordia ejus. Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen. Vidi aquam… I saw water flowing from the right side of the temple; and all they to whom that water came were saved, and they shall say: alleluia. Ps. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endureth forever. Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen. I saw water... Alleluia. Pascha nostrum immolatus est Christus Christ, our paschal lamb has been sacrificed.

Sequence Victimae paschali laudes immolent Christiani. Agnus redemit oves: Christus inno-cens Patri reconciliavit peccatores. Mors et vita duello conflixere mirando: dux vitae mortuus, regnat vivus. Dic nobis Maria, quid vidisti in via? Sepulchrum Christi viventis, et gloriam vidi resurgentis: Angelicos testes, sudarium et vestes. Surrexit Christus spes mea: praecedet suos in Galilaeam. Scimus Christum sur-rexisse a mortuis vere: tu nobis, victor Rex, miserere. To the Paschal Victim, Christians, offer a sacrifice of praise. The Lamb has ran-somed His sheep; the innocent Christ has reconciled sinners with the Father. Death and life confronted each other in a prodigious battle; the Prince of life who died now lives and reigns. “Tell us, Mary, what did you see upon the way?” “I saw the sepulchre of the living Christ; I saw the glory of the Risen One. I saw the angels, His witnesses, the shroud and the garments. Christ, my Hope, is risen; He will go before His own into Galilee.” We know that Christ is truly risen from the dead; O Victorious King, have mercy on us.

Offertory Antiphon Terra tremuit, et quievit, dum resurgeret in iudicio Deus, alleluia. The earth trembled, and was still, until God arose in judgement, alleluia.

Communion Antiphon Pascha nostrum immolates est Christus, alleluia; itaque epulemur in azymis sinceritatis et veritatis, alleluia, alleluia, [alleluia]. Christ our Passover has been sacrificed, alleluia; therefore let us keep the feast with the unleavened bread of purity and truth, alleluia, alleluia, [alleluia].

Recession Xsultemus et laetemur hodie, Dies iste, dies est laetitiae. Alleluia, resurrrexit Dominus. Exsultandi et laetandi tempus est: Pascha nostrum immolatus Agnus est. Alleluia. Timor absit desperation: Jam illuxit Christi resurrection. Alleluia. Ad spulcrum mulieres neiunt, Ab Angelo responsum recipient. Alleluia. In Sepulcro quem dolentes quaeris? Surrexisse dicite discupulis. Alleluia. Celebrantes hoc Pascha santissimum, Epulemur veritatis azymum, Alleluia. Fermentatum ex-purgemus noxium: Victor surgit, vera vita omnium. Alleluia. Let us exalt today and be joyful; This is a day of joy. Alleluia , the Lord is risen. It is time to exult and rejoice: the Lamb, our Passover is sacrificed. Putr away fear and despair; Christ’s resurrection has already dawned. The women come to the tomb; they receive the Angel’s message. Whom do you seek so sadly in the tomb? Tell his disciples that he is risen. As we keep this most holy Passover, let us feast on the unleavened bread of truth. The harmful leaven we must put away; the Conqueror is risen, true life of all.

Ogle

FROM THE OGLE OFFICE Dear Friends, Words are finite and limited, and struggle to express the meaning of the infinite. Great poetry can convey more meaning than words alone because poetry illuminates, suggests and paints a picture while words only define. In that spirit I offer you an Easter reflection in the form of one of the greatest Easter poems about the intersection of human time and God’s eternity. Blessed Eastertide to you and yours.

“That Nature is a Heraclitean Fire and of the Comfort of the Resurrection” An extended sonnet about nature and resurrection written in Dublin, Ireland in summer of

1888 by English Jesuit priest and convert Rev. Gerard Manley Hopkins, S.J.

Cloud-puffball, torn tufts, tossed pillows | flaunt forth, then chevy on an air- Built thoroughfare: heaven-roysterers, in gay-gangs | they throng; they glitter in marches. Down roughcast, down dazzling whitewash, | wherever an elm arches, Shivelights and shadowtackle ín long | lashes lace, lance, and pair. Delightfully the bright wind boisterous | ropes, wrestles, beats earth bare Of yestertempest's creases; | in pool and rut peel parches Squandering ooze to squeezed | dough, crust, dust; stanches, starches Squadroned masks and manmarks | treadmire toil there Footfretted in it. Million-fuelèd, | nature's bonfire burns on. But quench her bonniest, dearest | to her, her clearest-selvèd spark Man, how fast his firedint, | his mark on mind, is gone! Both are in an unfathomable, all is in an enormous dark Drowned. O pity and indig | nation! Manshape, that shone Sheer off, disseveral, a star, | death blots black out; nor mark Is any of him at all so stark But vastness blurs and time | beats level. Enough! the Resurrection, A heart's-clarion! Away grief's gasping, | joyless days, dejection. Across my foundering deck shone A beacon, an eternal beam. | Flesh fade, and mortal trash Fall to the residuary worm; | world's wildfire, leave but ash: In a flash, at a trumpet crash, I am all at once what Christ is, | since he was what I am, and This Jack, joke, poor potsherd, | patch, matchwood, immortal diamond, Is immortal dia-mond. God love you— Msgr Ogle

Our Lady of Mount Carmel wishes everyone a blessed Easter!

OLMC GIRLS VOLLEYBALL 2017 SEASON By: Sanaa Hadjeb

It has been another great CYO volleyball season for our parish players and coaches this year. Everyone is in anticipation for the playoff season, which is to begin on April 22nd, and gearing up for the potential to be a part of this year’s championship, which will take place at Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School on May 13th. We are all proud of the hard work and dedication that has been given to make our parish successful. Family and friends cheered on our youngest group, the 5th grade Novice division, during their regular season while they finished with a record of 22-8, placing themselves first out of 19 teams! Coaches Briana Marazzo and Dana Roussos did a wonderful job guiding the girls throughout the season and working together to rank at the top. The 7th grade team, coached by Sanaa and Cherifa Hadjeb had an exciting-ly challenging season this year, nonetheless finishing in 2nd place with a 24-6 record out of 22 teams. This division, Rookie, had the largest number of teams in in the CYO Diocese of Brooklyn for this season, and the coaches and players worked intensely to keep up with the completion all while having fun and enjoying themselves. This season our parish had two Tyro division teams. Tyro Red, coached by Yaleynah Cruz and Joanna Syska, overall finished in 7th place. Their record is unknown at this time. The Tyro Blue team, coached by Amina Hadjeb, had a spotless, undefeated record of 30-0, being the only team in our parish not to lose a game during the regular season! They have shown great dedication in making this possible, thus placing them first. Both teams ranked their positions out of 10 teams. Finally, our eldest group, the Junior division, had an overall regular season record of 25-5 which resulted in a 2nd place finish out of 10 teams. We are very proud of the contributions made by the coaches, players, and parents and are very pleased with the results of this year’s regular season. PRAYER OF THE WEEK

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 O Risen Lord, the Way, the Truth, and the Life! Make us faithful followers of the spirit of Your Resurrection. Grant that we may be inwardly renewed; dying to ourselves in order that You may live in us. May our lives serve as signs of the transforming power of Your love. Use us as Your instruments for the renewal of society, bringing Your life and love to all people, and leading them to Your Church. This we ask of You, Lord Jesus, living and reigning with the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever. Amen

INAUGURAL ORGAN RECITAL As you know, during our anniversary year our historic upper church organ, originally installed in 1871, was substantially re-built to last another 145 years. Master craftsman Tony Meloni of the firm of Meloni and Farrier carried out the work. Our organists Catherine Lankford and super-sub Lenny DiVittorio, in collaboration with our music director Lucille Mascia, have been delighting us liturgically with its majestic and mellow notes for the last 5 months, and I think we'll all agree the results have been wonderful. In order to appropriately mark the arrival of this new musical resource and to demonstrate its technical and virtuosic capacities, we are proud to announce a formal inaugural organ concert in our upper church to take place on Sunday, May 7 at 3 PM. The soloist will be Jamie Hitel, Director of Music at Christ Church Greenwich, Connecticut, a widely-respected per-former, composer, conductor and teacher. In addition, he maintains a busy solo organ recital career. Concert venues have included London's St Paul's and Westminster Cathedrals; New York's Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Ave-nue, Trinity Church, Wall Street; and Seattle's Saint Mark's Cathedral. Re-cent organ recitals in Germany have included concerts in Paderborn Cathe-dral, Rheda-Wiedenbrück and Braunschweig and as guest conductor of the Leipzig Baroque Orchestra in a performance at St Thomas Church, Leipzig, Germany. Please mark your calendar for this wonderful musical opportuni-ty to celebrate the Easter season.
