ISOCALL IP is more than aclassical nurse call system.

VISOCALL IP is a moderncommunication platform for manydifferent applications, which makeslife in hospitals or nursing homesmore agreeable, simpler and morecomfortable for patients, homeresidents as well as the medical andnursing staff. The countless newfeatures VISOCALL IP offers haveintroduced a totallynew dimension tothe world of hospitalcommunication.

“What makesVISOCALL IP so unique is the use ofnetwork technology with its manyoptions and the fact that the systemnow has become mobile as well,” saysProduct Manager Edwin Fisar. “Someapplications now can also be usedon smartphones or tablets. In this wayinformation can be reliably collectedand transmitted at all times. Thisresults in a considerable improvementof reliability, communication andconvenience, but most of all inflexibility and mobility. In additionto the classical nurse-call functions,VISOCALL IP offers integration ofmultimedia terminals, the opportunity

to use IP television and internet,electro-acoustic functions, telephoneand, of course, also all accounting andbilling features.

In the next issues of Fire & Care wewill inform you about the uniqueoptions that VISOCALL IP offers.

patient control units. With the latestpatient terminal, the PAT-easy, aseamless portfolio of these devicescan be offered in three steps. The offerranges from the high-end-type PATwith integrated VoIP telephone, thenew PAT-easy to the simplest variant, the PAT-light. For it is not necessaryto offer the highest functionalityeverywhere and for every user. Hospitaland nursing home operators can decidefor themselves which options andbenefits should be used. Based onthis decision they can also choosethe patient terminal that will best fittheir needs.

To guarantee the highestquality and reliability first-generation fire alarm panelswere replaced by 19 Integral panels and the existingcopper lines were replaced by fibre optic cables. Theadvantage of fibre optic cables lies in the high transmissioncapacity, since optical signals can cover great distanceswithout repeaters. In addition, the lightweight, thinand flexible optical fibres prevent electro-magneticinterference. Also seamless monitoring of the entirepremises is safeguarded by the more than 3,600 automaticfire detectors and the four smoke aspiration systems.

In addition, the existing nurse call system of the hospitalwas continuously upgraded during the past years and recentlyit was also expanded. Efficient and reliable communicationis ensured by making it possible for patients, doctors andnursing staff to get in touch quickly.

ur way of living and working ismarked by increasing mobility.Smartphones and tablets have

become our communication centres. Manyof us would not want to do without thesemobile devices anymore, whether in ourprivate lives or at work. The current resultsof the “Social Impact Study” sponsoredby A1 show that this trend is continuing. While in 2010 32 percent of the populationwere using smartphones, in 2012 it isalready every second one. Smartphoneshave laid the foundation for the enormoussuccess of mobile applications. Theirgreat benefit is their clear functionality. Moreover, the applications are extremelyvaried, and a success in all areas oflife. There is an app for almost anypurpose, from scanning and managingbusiness cards, reading the news or usinga sophisticated time-recording system.

The mobile officein your pocket

Due to these technologies the worldof business has considerably changed. Ithas now become possible to accesscompany data independently of timeand location, making workflows easierand simpler. For Schrack Seconet, as atechnology pioneer, it was clear fromthe start that we would have to integrate

this innovation in the work processesof the company and the systems offered. To be able to set ourselves off from ourcompetitors it is essential to be alwaysone step ahead.

Clear and fast decision-making with apps

Schrack Seconet has setnew standards by developingfire alarm panels with anintegrated IP interface. Forthe first time now we are

offering also a solution for remote accessvia mobile terminals. With the appIACmobile you can display the controlfield of the fire alarm panel on yoursmartphone or your tablet. It is possibleto retrieve the actual state of the systemand to automaticallyget all alarm andstatus messages aswell as activating ordeactivating detectorzones or start themonitoring time. Ofcourse, hardware and software are wellprotected against unauthorised accessto the fire alarm system. Operation canbe restricted to a defined area by meansof geo-data retrieval. All incoming messagesare sent by means of push notification,

even if the application isnot active at the time. The

advantage: It is possibleto respond when there are

signs of imminent dangerbut no damage has been caused

yet. In this way you will havethe decisive information headstart

particularly in case of unattendedtechnical equipment, in garages

or warehouses, and also the responsetime on the part of fire protection

officers is considerably reduced.

“The great opportunities made possibleby the fast and simple use of mobileapps have convinced us to integrate themin our daily work. The indication andcontrol of our systems via mobile terminalsreduces the number of necessary trips tothe control panel, speeds up processesand offers the decisive advantage ofsaving time and, therefore, also costs,”says René Türk, Product Manager forinformation systems.

Apps optimisehospital procedures

Particularly in hospital routines aseamless network, connecting all people, rooms and facilities is very important.Nurse call systems have always beenin-house solutions, which means that

triggered calls andalarms were generatedwithin the buildingand also indicatedto the staff withinthe building. Today, wards or complete

houses tend to be no longer permanentlyattended by nurses or engineers. Thestaff is mobile, they are moving betweenthe houses. Mobile applications arenow making it possible to transferpatient and staff calls to smartphones,

systems, is certain: “Mobileapplications are an enormousgain, as they optimise processesand workflows.” Wimmer usesmobile applications mainly in the

field of video monitoring and intrusiondetection technology. The apps aredownloaded from the respective app storeand configured. In the field intrusiondetection technology a SECURA alarmsystem can be activated and deactivatedand states of detector zones and securityareas can be controlled. To enablecontrol via the mobile data networkand retrieve states, a control field ofthe SECURA panel is displayed on thesmartphone. Near Field Communication,i .e. wireless transmission betweendevices, is another innovation thatwill set new standards. This technologyis already used in access control systems.

wo of the most important events in thisyear’s schedule of trade fairs were theMedica in Düsseldorf and the Security

in Essen. Schrack Seconet’s participation inthese two events has a long tradition andalways is a great opportunity to present thelatest developments of our company.

This year’s Security was held fromSeptember 25 – 28. This international tradefair marks the security and fire-protectionsector as a trailblazer for innovations, a meetingpoint for experts and a hub for internationalbusiness contacts. Schrack Seconet was able to

attract the attention of the experts byits future-oriented developments,

featuring IP technology. “The variousoptions for transmitting information

as well as the option to manage ourfire alarm systems with mobile devices

were met with enormous interest. Operators andinstallers can access any detailed information theymay need fast and comfortably”, explains ProductManager Thomas Kern, describing the SchrackSeconet presentation at the Security.

Responding efficientlywith IP technology

By employing the Internet Protocol (IP),operators and installers can access Integral IPpanels with mobile devices at all times and fromall locations to get status information, changesettings or execute operation procedures. This is agreat plus, especially for globally acting enterprises, such as telecommunication companies, fuel stationsand power supply utilities, which have locations

all over the country. Integral IP BX is the idealsolution for unattended as well as regionallydistributed facilities, such as wind parks, radiomasts, garages or pipelines. All the requestedinformation is automatically transmitted to anylocation, so that the people in charge can makedecisions fast and efficiently. Thanks to operationvia tablet PCs, smartphones or PCs, distancesare easily covered and processesare sped up.

Highest-level protectionand flexibility

Another future-oriented developmentpresented at Schrack Seconet’s booth was the expansionof the CUBUS detector family by two more members:The CMD 533X is a multiple sensor detector withintegrated CO sensor, which is compliant to the lateststandards. By means of the well tried and testedCUBUS levelling the detector continuously monitorsambient conditions, such as absolute maximumtemperature, relative heat increase and atmosphericopacity. By using this data the respective smoke andheat sensitivity is calculated for each location. Thedetection modes can be comfortably selected fromthe fire alarm panel. The MTD 533X has been foundto be extremely reliable as multiple sensor detectorand has the capacity of detecting both smoke andheat increase. The latest version of MTD 533X-Salso features acoustic signalling bymeans of tones and voice.

The international expertswere also extremely interestedin the aspiration smoke detectorAirSCREEN ASD 535. This universal and powerfuldetector with its highly-dynamic HD sensor, theadjustable ventilator and the option to use asymmetricpipe systems opens up new dimensions in the fieldsof precision, flexibility and economy.

Green Magnet – Schrack Seconet setsthe benchmark for sustainability

With its presentation on this trade fair SchrackSeconet has demonstrated the great importance itattributes to environmental protection. The BX-MDHis an intelligent loop holding magnet which, asopposed to traditional door holding magnets, is notunder current around the clock but rather operates asa permanent magnet directly on the loop. “We areextremely proud of our ‘Green Magnet’. With thisresource-saving and eco-friendly innovation it ispossible to reduce high operating costs and lessenthe environmental burden,” Kern points out.
