KSM Project

Seabridge Gold Inc. and the KSM ProjectSeabridge Gold Inc. is a publicly traded junior gold company based out of Toronto, Ontario. In 2000, Seabridge acquired 100% interest in the Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell (KSM) Project from Placer Dome Inc. At that time two separate zones were known (Kerr and Sulphurets) containing 3.4 million ounces of gold and 2.7 billion pounds of copper – too small to develop given location, size and prices. In 2002 Seabridge optioned KSM to Noranda who drill tested 6 new targets in 2005 including Mitchell Zone. Exploration activities to date

have demonstrated that the KSM project now exceeds 34 million ounces of gold and 8 billion pounds of copper, making it one

of the world's largest gold-copper systems, translating into a potential mine life of up to 40 to 50 + years.

Rescan Environmental Services Ltd. Seabridge has contracted Rescan Environmental Services Ltd. (Rescan) to undertake baseline environmental, socio-cultural and economic studies to prepare scoping

documents and serve as the basis for their KSM project feasibility and environmental assessment studies. These studies will record existing environmental, socio-cultural and economic baseline conditions and help establish current profiles for communities near the proposed project site and the local bio-physical environment. This information will be used to assess the potential effects of the Project and to provide strategies for future mitigation, monitoring, and management of potential impacts.

Environmental, socio-cultural and economic baseline studiesComprehensive bio-physical, socio-cultural and economic baseline studies are planned for 2008 and 2009 to provide information to assess the potential environmental effects of the proposed KSM Project. The study area will focus on the Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell deposit zones and related mine infrastructure. The bio-physical studies include surface waters, groundwater, aquatic biology, fish and their habitat, vegetation, soils, terrain, wildlife, meteorology and air quality. In addition to these studies of the natural environment, baseline information will be collected on archaeology, socio-cultural and traditional knowledge. Reconnaissance level baseline work was initiated in May 2008, and this year’s studies are planned to continue through the summer, fall and early winter.
