METRICS AND METHODS FOR QUALIFYING PARTNER PROSPECTSConsiderations when assessing a content partner. Ultimately, the decision to pursuit or not rests local circumstances.

Quantitative metrics:

1. Feeds:

1. Hits – Volume of users hitting feed within a time period.

2. Refresh frequency – how often are feeds refreshed with new content.

3. Categories – is it a single feed, or is it a family of related feeds. App Producer supports sections – where groups of feeds can be onboarded.

4. Item / article count – how many articles are provide for with each feed.

5. Item / article freshness – how fresh or recent are articles.

2. Web-Sites:

1. Have a community?

1. Registered users – how many registered users belong to the community.

2. Active users – how many “active users” those logged and performed some activity within the past 30 days.

2. Social media standings – how large are their social network followings: Facebook, Twitter, Klout, or local social networks.

3. Active users – how many active users does the site support; as defined by sessions created.

4. Page Views – how many page views are delivered total, and on a per session case.

5. Unique Users – how many unique users visited the site within a period of time.

6. Alexa ranking – where does the site rank relative to their peers.

3. Paper:

1. Have digital content – the key qualifier is if the content is available in a digital form.

2. Geo coverage – how large is the regional area covered by paper.

3. Circulation – what is the circulation (number of copies printed per volume).

Qualitative assessments:

1. Is the prospect a content aggregator? – how many feed sources are under their management and/or syndication?

2. Does the prospect command a well know consumer brand; one that is increasing in popularity?

3. Does the prospect command a loyal following?

4. Is the prospect complimentary to Microsoft – for example electronics, mobile devices, tablets retailer or reviewer?

5. Is the prospect competitive with Microsoft – where the content may not be ideal for presentation in a Microsoft platform?

6. Does the prospect represent a show-case partner or entrant to a new industry – with which can use be used as showcase or demo?

Base qualification: A partner must have a minimum of 10,000 active viewers, registered users, or hits per week.
