1 Get Involved, Volunteer! APAMO Volunteer / Intern Guidelines Introduction The Association of Protected Areas Management Organizations is continuously growing in its organizational structure as it better prepares itself to deliver its mission and serve its community. This imminent growth is accompanied by a diversified approach to addressing the needs of protected areas management, inclusive of its many disciplines and sectors. This provides an attractive enabling environment for volunteerism through APAMO and creates endless opportunities for mutually beneficial relationships between APAMO and volunteers. Volunteer activities are open to anyone who wishes to contribute to further the mission of APAMO. Definition of an APAMO Volunteer An APAMO volunteer is a person who: Believes in the Vision and Mission of APAMO Undertakes activities without monetary reward Undertakes activities of their own free will and without coercion Undertakes activities to benefit APAMO and the wider community Undertakes activities in designated volunteer positions only Undertakes activities that complement, but do not replace the services provided by APAMO employees Benefits of Volunteering / Interning at APAMO Work closely with a dynamic staff Participate in interactive cultural experiences Meet and connect with new people and with the community Travel and explore a country with pristine ecosystems Increase social skills; gain experience and new skills Opportunity to enjoy yourself while making a difference International Volunteers/Interns are expected to hold service agreements with APAMO for a minimum of ideally 3 months; however, under special circumstances a shorter service period may be agreed upon. Guidelines

Introduction

The Association of Protected Areas Management Organizations is continuously growing in its

organizational structure as it better prepares itself to deliver its mission and serve its community.
