VOL. 28 NO. 04 JANUARY 24, 2018 “Transformed” 2018 Theme FROM TIM… A GREAT START TO OUR FOCUS PROGRAM - We had our FOCUS re-organizaon Sunday night, and Craig Collier told me aſterwards that we have about 340 people signed up to be in our FOCUS program this year – thats excing! Those 340 people are divided into 21 groups, and we look forward to a great year of praying together, eang together, and encouraging together. We really appreciate Craig and Allison organizing this program. We have thrown a lot of new ideas at Craig in the last few months, and he has done a great job pulling them together, siſting through them, and making everything workable. We welcome everyones feedback this year as we try some new things. One of this years changes is making our FOCUS meengs more of a congregaon-wide event, so we are asking each group to try to meet on the same weekends. You can work within your group to decide what day is best (anyme from Thursday through Monday), but please mark your calendars for our 2018 FOCUS weekends: The weekends of February 18, April 22, June 24, August 19 and October 21. MARK YOUR CALENDARS ALSO FOR FAMILY DAY! Family Day is always one of our biggest Sundays of the year – please mark your calendar for Sunday, February 25 th . And please be inving your family and friends to come join us for worship, a potluck lunch, and an early aſternoon service. We will get our invitaons out soon and we will pass them along to everyone. MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT: CAN YOU HELP WITH OUR SUNDAY EVENING CHILDRENS CLASS? Our Sunday evening childrens class has been great for us in several ways, including increasing Bible knowledge in our younger kids. But our childrens class leaders need help – we dont want the same people to have to be in there every week, without geng breaks. As Kenny announced Sunday morning, we are asking for adults or couples who are willing to sign up for a one-month Sunday night shiſtin 2018. Curriculum is already set up, but we need people to lead songs, teach the lesson, and design/lead craſts each week. Can you help? Please see Cameron Nabors or Ryan McDaniel if you have quesons. Sign up is on the sign up board. We will see you Sunday, ready to worship and grow! Welcome to the Family: Alex and Cate Lopera Alex (or Alejandro) and Cate met with our shepherds this last Sunday to let them know they want to work and worship under their leadership here at Great Oaks. They are a faithful, talented young couple and we look forward to geng them even more involved. Cate (Craſt) grew up here at Great Oaks, and she just graduated from the Universi- ty of Memphis with a psychology major and a Spanish minor. She met Alex while working with the Lets Start Talking mission program in Argenna, where Alex was serving as a youth minister. They were married in a small private ceremony about 6 months ago, and they recently had a more formal ceremony for their families. Alex is originally from Ecuador before he moved to Argenna. He studied theology before serving as a youth minister in Argenna. He also enjoys playing guitar and wring music.

FROM TIM… A GREAT START TO OUR FOCUS PROGRAM - We had our FOCUS re-organization Sunday night, and Craig Collier told me afterwards that we have about 340 people signed up to be in our FOCUS program this year – that’s exciting! Those 340 people are divided into 21 groups, and we look forward to a great year of praying together, eating together, and encouraging together. We really appreciate Craig and Allison organizing this program. We have thrown a lot of new ideas at Craig in the last few months, and he has done a great job pulling them together, sifting through them, and making everything workable. One of this year’s changes is making our FOCUS meetings more of a congregation-wide event, so we are asking each group to try to meet on the same weekends. But our children’s class leaders need help – we don’t want the same people to have to be in there every week, without getting breaks. As Kenny announced Sunday morning, we are asking for adults or couples who are willing to sign up for a one-month Sunday night “shift” in 2018. Curriculum is already set up, but we need people to lead songs, teach the lesson, and design/lead crafts each week. Can you help? Please see Cameron Nabors or Ryan McDaniel if you have questions.
