59 & HOLDING OCTOBER PROGRAM

October 3 Program/Lunch, Jef fords Fel lowship Hal l

11:30 for Socia l Hour, 12 noon for Luncheon/Speaker

Jim Dunham—a gun toting, wise-cracking and entertaining western historian, will be the next speaker at the October meeting of 59 and Holding. Hands up! When Jim Dunham is holstered. Hands down, one of the most interesting speakers! Although born in Illinois, Jim Dunham has spent most of his life pursuing his love of the American West. Dunham was influenced by the art of Charles M. Russell, Frederick Remington and the books of Will James. From his youthful passion for Westerns, Jim became active in the sport of Fast Draw and an accomplished gun spinner and fancy gun-hander. After studying acting and Fine Arts at the University of Colorado, he began performing a show about the Gunfighters of the Old West for service clubs and church groups.

In 1967 Jim took his act to Hollywood and was hired by 20th Century Fox Film Corporation to perform in their Studio Tour Stunt Shows. During the next few decades Jim would teach gun tricks and fast draw to movie actors, speak at conventions, work as a performer in the Chuck Wagon Supper Show business, appear as a guest on national TV talk shows and perform at the Winter Olympics. Currently he is featured as a Western historian in 4 episodes of the series ―Tales of the Gun‖ on the History Channel. The 2010 issue of True West magazine’s ―Best of the West‖ Source Book recently honored Dunham as the ―Best Living Single Action Shooter.‖ Dunham is employed as the Director of Special Projects and Historian for the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA. Jim has recently combined his art skills with his acting ability to create a program where he paints a watercolor painting and tells humorous stories from C.M. Russell’s book Trails Plowed Under. http://boothmuseum.org New this year, if you register by email, you are guaranteed an email reminder the Sunday before the luncheon. You can register in one of the following ways:

WARM COAT DRIVE

MONTHLY GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

September 20, 2017

Winter wi l l be here soon enough!! A jacket or sweatshirt feels good in the morning right now but soon it will be a necessity. Most of us have one (or two or three or…) ready for that first frosty day, but there are households right here in North Fulton for whom that is not true. Do you (or your children) have one hanging in your closet that you never even wore last year? Or one that is still nice but has been outgrown? Or have you seen a bargain on a new one? North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) is having a Warm Coat Drive. Will you bring a new or clean gently used jacket, coat, hoodie, or sweatshirt to church? You can put it in the designated box in the mailbox hallway during the month of October. We’ll take it from there!

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted - Matt 5:4 St. David’s will offer a monthly Grief Support Group for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. You are welcome to attend one or more of our gatherings and want you to know that each will be confidential, gentle and prayerful. We will meet monthly starting on Thursday, October 19th at 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the St Gabriel room. For more information, please call or email Toni Cathcart at 404-358-0798 or [email protected].
