THE WORD OLD TESTAMENT Isaiah 25:6-9 Reader: The Old Testament reading for today is from the 25th chapter

of Isaiah.

On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. HOLY GOSPEL Matthew 22:1-14 Pastor: The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew, the 22nd chapter. People: Glory to You, O Lord!

Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come. "Then he sent some more servants and said, 'Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.'

"But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. "Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.' So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.

"But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. ’Friend,' he asked, 'how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man was speechless. "Then the king told the attendants, 'Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. SACRAMENT The Lord's Supper is a gracious gift instituted by Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and as a means of receiving God’s grace. We believe that in the holy supper, the true body and blood of the Savior, along with the bread and wine, comes to us. We are encouraged by Jesus to commune frequently and God tells us through St. Paul that we must examine ourselves in preparation for a worthy reception of the sacrament. This includes a confession of our sins, a proclamation of our faith, and a determination to lead a more godly life in the future. If you also acknowledge your sinfulness and your need for a Savior, and recognize Christ’s physical presence in the bread and wine, we invite you to join us at the Lord’s table. What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

USHERS NEEDED- Four is okay. Six is workable. Eight is perfect. What do these numbers mean? These are the number of ushers required for the 8:00 church service during the summer months. Now that the snowbirds have returned, eight is the needed

number. Ushering requires nothing but a smile and willingness to serve God. How about YOU? Can you volunteer to usher one month out of every three? That's right one month on and two months off with a couple of Saturday services. If you need a service time off, no problem, no pressure. We are a flexible group! LWML MITE NEWS: Many thanks to all who contributed to our Mite collection on October 3rd and 4th. A total of $193.50 was contributed. These contributions will help fund many

mission projects/grants. Mite contributions may be made at any time since the Mite Box is always available in the Narthex. Always remember that A LITTLE CAN HELP SO MANY!

COMMUNITY OF GRATITUDE: Today there are many hungry families in our community who are in need of our help. The Community of Gratitude Emergency Food Center, located in Ocklawaha, is in need of food items which in turn will feed

many impoverished families and children. THE CENTER IS IN URGENT NEED OF ALL THE ITEMS LISTED BELOW. Volunteers will deliver them to the food center. This week’s items are: Canned fruit,Cereal bars/breakfast bars,

Jellies. Please drop these items in the Narthex on Saturday or Sunday or

Joint Group 9 & 10, ALL VILLAGES SOUTH OF STATE ROAD 44: on Saturday, Nov. 7th at Sterling Heights Rec. Center, Park Picnic Area from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The evening will give you the chance for socializing, visiting with Trinity members, which due to the Covid, kept us apart for some

time. You may play one of the Recreation outside games if you want to. This Event is free but we ask that you bring your own food and drink. We will follow the Covid guidelines. Christianity is the only religion of the world to insist that reconciliation with the creator cannot ever be accomplished by our performance. Only through the revelation of a Savior, who would be the substitute sacrifice for all of our wrongdoing and make us right with God, can we finally overcome our sense of separation from the Almighty. Trinity is a member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. We enjoy a blessed confessional heritage of Biblical Christianity with over 65 million Lutherans around the world and over 7 million Lutherans in the U.S. alone. What we know and believe comes only from the Bible, which is God’s inspired Word. While the Bible is certainly our guide for holy living, the primary purpose of the Bible is to reveal Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We believe every Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church is a “little Easter”, a celebration of the resurrection of our Lord. We celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper every Sunday in all worship services. We believe the forgiveness and strength of faith we are promised through receiving the very body and blood of Christ is so greatly needed by all of God’s people, for we are truly a community of wounded healers.
