We partnered with PayExpo to host over 200 senior executives from around 150 companies across the globe, from banks, payments companies, remittance companies and fintech startups. We had keynote speeches from the likes of Deanna Oppenheimer, JP Rangaswami, both of whom are Venture Partners with Anthemis Group and renowned author and economist Carlota Perez, who has been an inspiration for our business philosophy and model.

Hello and welcome to the Anthemis Innovation Playground for Financial Services.

We are a digitally native company focused on re-inventing fi nancial services through technology for the Information Age. Nadeem was President at First Data Corporation where he held a number of senior roles, including most recently as Head of the Financial Institutions, where he ran a multibillion dollar organization overseeing businesses in over 50 markets. Previously, Deanna held C-level positions at national and international fi nancial institutions. She most recently served as Vice Chair, Global Retail Banking at Barclays, where she was also CEO of UK and Western Europe Retail Banking.

JP RanagaswamiChief Scientist, Salesforce, Venture partner, Anthemis GroupJP is regarded as something of a maverick and an innovator, being an outspoken advocate of open source and using emerging and disruptive technologies to improve information sharing, education and collaboration. Prior to his role at Salesforce, he was Chief Scientist of BT Group after having been the MD of BT Design. He was named to silicon.com’s “Top 50 Agenda Setters in technology” in 2007 and 2008 and was ranked 18th in Wired Magazine’s 2009 fi rst UK100 list of Britain’s “top digital power-brokers.”

He also serves as Venture Partner at Anthemis group and is non-executive director of Ribbit – “Silicon Valley’s fi rst phone company”.

Carlota PerezAuthor of Technological Revolutions and Financial Capital: the Dynamics of Bubbles and Golden Ages In her country of origin, Venezuela, Carlota was founding director of Technological Development in the Ministry of Industry and created the fi rst venture capital fund in the country in the 1980s.

Rafaele PetruzzoDirector of Business Development & Innovation – Tesco BankRafaele joined Tesco Bank from Barclays Bank where he was Chief Digital Offi cer within the Europe Retail and Business Banking division. Within this role, Rafaele was responsible for developing and delivering the digitisation of the European business, with a specifi c focus on new channel (mobile) and product development.

Before joining Barclays, Rafaele worked in the consulting industry, namely KPMG Advisory and Accenture Services.

John EastgateSales & Marketing Director at OneSavings Bank plcDespite graduating from university with an electrical engineering degree, John has spent his entire career in the fi nancial services industry and now has over 20 years’ experience with banks, building societies and related consultancy partners. Prior to joining OneSavings Bank, John was Sales & Marketing Director at Saff ron Building Society and he previously held senior roles at Experian and Barclays.

OneSavings BankOneSavings Bank was created in February 2011 and trades from multiple brands. Kent Reliance has its roots in the building society sector, and now provides residential and buy to let loans funded by its retail depositors. Prestige Finance and Interbay were acquired by the Bank in 2012 and provide secured and SME lending facilities.

AJ HannaDirector, Anthemis Edge AJ drives the growth of the investment and advisory business at Anthemis backed by his deep domain expertise, passion about everything related to payments, mobile fi nancial services and especially remittances.

Previously, AJ held senior positions at First Data, American Express, MoneyGram and was one of the most successful senior executives at Western Union, responsible for global distribution and growing the single largest P&L for the company. With over 20 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry, AJ has lived and worked in San Francisco, New York, Toronto and London.

Jeremy has worked for CERA, a strategy and research consultancy in the fi eld of energy and his expertise includes various projects for governments and international companies, as well as investors looking for opportunities in renewable energy in Africa.
