Annual Report 2017 Dear Friends of Nativity, I am honored to share with you the 2017 Annual Report for Nativity Academy at St. Boniface, an independent Catholic middle school in the heart of Louisville. As you will see in these pages, we continue to make remarkable progress on our #1 strategic priority – providing an excellent 21st century educational experience. We are investing in order to improve our facilities, the learning environment, and ithe core programs that have distinguished Nativity Academy since its founding. A holistic learning model In the Extended Enrichment Program (EEP), for instance, you’ll see examples of efforts to broaden the scope of learning beyond the traditional school day. Each afternoon up to twelve courses are offered to our students that allow them to expand their horizons and journey into a variety of enriching learning areas such as: Robotics, Multi-Cultural Dance, Yoga, Spanish, Karate, Theater, Life Skills, Culinary Arts, Swimming, Chorus, Ballet, Ballroom Dancing, Character Education, Chess, Rock Climbing, Shakespeare and Jiujutsu. This holistic learning model is expanding our students’ minds to ensure that they are prepared to pursue their passions when they leave Nativity. Guiding students through their entire educational journey One other very unique element of our Nativity model is our Graduate Support Program (GSP). This continued educational platform provides Nativity graduates with an additional 8+ years of constant support following them through their post-secondary educational experience. Services such as high-school and college tours, financial aid assistance, testing preparation, tutoring and community service opportunities. I am pleased to announce that we now have almost 200 graduates that we have continued to support through their educational journey. Tools and talent As we begin a new year we see it already filled with exciting opportunities just waiting on the horizon. Our students will benefit greatly from new state-of-the-art computer technology called a “Clever Board”, interactive touchscreen whiteboards installed in our classrooms, new computer servers running our Academy-wide network faster and more reliably, and finally a completely refurbished cafeteria/ kitchen. A new convection oven cooks more precisely and with greater volume allowing all our students to eat on schedule. Our new walk-in refrigerator/freezer allows us to receive free commodity food, which further reduces spoilage and food costs. Our talented faculty at Nativity continues to improve significantly each year. Led by our Principal, Tom Kallay, we have 93% of our educators with Masters Degrees or higher. Our Mission remains a constant beacon, your support is our lifeblood. As for our governance Board, they remain true to our Mission: “Nativity Academy is an independent Catholic Middle School that transforms the lives of students who have a commitment to achievement and whose families demonstrate financial need.” We owe a great gift of gratitude to past Board Chair, Dave Mueller, retired ExxonMobile executive, for his leadership, dedication and service. Now we welcome Tim Hagerty, Frost Brown Todd, as our new Board Chair. Tim is full of ideas and energy that will surely allow his leadership to leave a positive mark on Nativity. All of our efforts, past and future, are made possible by our generous Nativity Family of Donors. They are providing the lifeblood for us to shape Nativity’s legacy for the 21st century. We are most grateful for the time/talent our volunteers provide and the financial support from our donors, as well as the example they set for our students. I invite you to read further to learn more about our outstanding initiatives and achievements of the past year. Blessings, Carol Nord

Dear Friends of Nativity,

I am honored to share with you the 2017 Annual Report for Nativity Academy at St.

A holistic learning modelIn the Extended Enrichment Program (EEP), for instance, you’ll

see examples of efforts to broaden the scope of learning beyond the traditional school day.

Guiding students through their entire educational journeyOne other very unique element of our Nativity model is our

Graduate Support Program (GSP).

Tools and talentAs we begin a new year we see it already filled with exciting

opportunities just waiting on the horizon. Our students will benefit greatly from new state-of-the-art computer technology called a “Clever Board”, interactive touchscreen whiteboards installed in our

classrooms, new computer servers running our Academy-wide network faster and more reliably, and finally a completely refurbished cafeteria/ kitchen.

As for our governance Board, they remain true to our Mission:“Nativity Academy is an independent Catholic Middle School

that transforms the lives of students who have a commitment to achievement and whose families demonstrate financial need.”

We owe a great gift of gratitude to past Board Chair, Dave Mueller, retired ExxonMobile executive, for his leadership, dedication and service.

Blessings,

Carol Nord
